Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., the 2023 winner of the men’s national golf championship, was a shot back tied with a group for fourth. Pendrith, Taylor and Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ont., are one of the marquee groups of the first two rounds. Hughes was tied for 20th after a 2-under round.
