Max Muncy: Shohei Ohtani Quickly Embraced Dodgers’ Culture

The culture within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization has been a significant contributor to their success and made them a premier destination for free agents in recent years. When Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers in December 2024, he was already a two-time American League MVP and had firmly established himself as the best player in baseball. But he also brought an aura with him, and as an established star, it could have been difficult for players already on the team to offer advice or call out mistakes. That has been seen in other clubhouses across sports, where the star players don’t feel the need to buy in or listen to the advice of other players. However, Ohtani was open to feedback from his new team early on and fit into the culture of the clubhouse well. During an appearance on “Foul Territory,” Max Muncy described how coachable Ohtani was and his willingness to buy in: “I remember very clearly within the first month of us having Shohei, there was a play where he was running the bases and he didn’t necessarily get as good of a secondary lead and he wasn’t able to score on a certain play.  » Read

Latest exec quote on Mets’ mess could make Rangers regret Brandon Nimmo trade

One reported reason the Texas Rangers traded star infielder Marcus Semien to the New York Mets for outfielder Brandon Nimmo was due to "tension" between Semien and shortstop Corey Seager. However, it appears Nimmo is coming from a clubhouse that didn't get along, which could lead to more issues within the Rangers' clubhouse. “What done tells you how big a s— show their clubhouse was,” said one rival executive who was granted anonymity for his candor, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon . "The guessing is over. It was a disaster.” Latest exec quote on Mets' mess could make Rangers regret Brandon Nimmo tradeIn addition to trading Nimmo, the Mets dealt Jeff McNeil to the Athletics and didn't re-sign closer Edwin Diaz, who signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and first baseman Pete Alonso, who signed with the Baltimore Orioles. Of course, we as fans don't know Nimmo personally, but the fact that he, as a veteran,  » Read More

Italy fines Apple nearly 100 mn euros over app privacy feature | National | mytexasdaily.com

Italy's competition authority said Monday it had fined the US tech giant Apple 98 million euros ($115 million) for allegedly abusing its dominant position in the mobile app market. The AGCM said in a statement that Apple had violated privacy regulations for third-party developers in a market where it "holds a super-dominant position through its App Store". Apple said it would appeal the decision and defended its "strong privacy protections for our users". But Italy's antitrust body said its investigation had established the "restrictive nature" of the "privacy rules imposed by Apple... on third-party developers of apps distributed through the App Store". The rules of Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) "are imposed unilaterally and harm the interests of Apple's commercial partners", according to the AGCM statement. French antitrust authorities earlier this year handed Apple a 150-million euro fine over its app tracking privacy feature. Authorities elsewhere in Europe have also opened similar probes over ATT, which Apple promotes as a privacy safeguard. The feature, introduced by Apple in 2021,  » Read More

QVS Club House arson accused awaits bail – Fijivillage

The Suva High Court will decide on bail for the man accused of setting fire to the QVS Club House in Suva in June this year on 6th January, after receiving his psychiatric evaluation report. Nigel Yogesh Singh is charged with one count of arson. The counsel for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions told the court that they have not received the psychiatric evaluation report as yet. While seated in the dock, Singh interjected, asking how long the process would take, saying he has been waiting for a long time. He told Justice Dane Tuiqereqere that he does not have a mental illness. Justice Tuiqereqere has ordered St Giles Hospital to provide the psychiatric report by 2nd January, after which he will consider the bail application. Singh again interjected, stating he has no family in Fiji to act as sureties as they are overseas, and that he is homeless and begs on the streets. Justice Tuiqereqere directed Legal Aid counsel Tobia Ravuniwa to speak with Singh regarding his bail application.  » Read More

Matt Strahm Trade Was Motivated By Clubhouse Concerns – MLB Trade Rumors

The Phillies traded lefty Matt Strahm to the Royals on Friday in exchange for righty reliever Jonathan Bowlan. Philadelphia has two other solid lefty relievers in Jose Alvarado and Tanner Banks, to say nothing of Jhoan Duran and the recently-signed Brad Keller from the right side. With a strong late-inning mix in those four, it made sense to clear Strahm’s $7.5MM salary for 2026 to help with other additions, such as a J.T. Realmuto reunion. According to Matt Gelb of the Athletic, Strahm was outspoken in his opinions on how the bullpen and clubhouse were managed, which clashed with coaches and other team officials. Meanwhile, Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski framed the matter as a more of a question of contractual control, telling reporters, “(Strahm is) a year away from free agency. We were able to get a guy that we liked who has six years of (club control) and we think can help us right away.  » Read More
