Clubhouse

Clubhouse App

So, you want to join Clubhouse?

Some of you will remember the roaring 90s, when AOL chat rooms were a way to pass time talking to, or flirting with, strangers. Well, two decades later here comes Clubhouse. The difference is that Clubhouse is voice-based (no texting allowed) and on mobile (not available on desktop or tablet). Treading on the toes of many other social media platforms, Clubhouse has made its way into our mobile app galleries as a social audio app that is now trending worldwide. Clubhouse Drop-in Audio Chat, as it is officially known, is a voice-only app that allows users to drop in and out of ‘rooms’ created to explore a specific topic through instant voice chatting, almost like a phone call. The app defines itself as, ‘a new type of social product based on voice  allows people everywhere to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships, and meet interesting new people around the world’. It is a virtual world where conversations are called Rooms and are usually launched by a Club,  » Read More

AFTER CALLING OUT AN IMPOSTER, PRITHVIRAJ'S KIND WORDS FOR THE PERSON'S …

Clubhouse is an application that has now been gaining widespread popularity - it is an invitation-only social media app for iOS and Android where users can communicate in voice chat rooms that accommodate groups of up to 5,000 people. The audio-only app hosts live discussions, with opportunities to participate through speaking and listening. Of late, many fake accounts of popular actors have increased on the newly introduced app, and being one of those, Prithviraj Sukumaran had time and again come out with clarifications that there is no official account of his in that app. Now, after the imposter has apologized, here's Prithviraj's latest acknowledgement post with such kind words that has won the hearts of many-  Here's what he has to say: "Dear Sooraj. It’s alright. I understand that it was all meant to be a harmless joke. But I hope by now you’ve realised that something like this could have very serious repercussions. At one point, I believe more than 2500 people were listening in to you and that a good majority of them thought it was me speaking.  » Read More

What Florida's Retail and Industrial Sectors Learned From the COVID-19 Pandemic

Florida dealmakers needed to hustle to stay ahead of the pandemic. Photo: Adobe Stock. Hobby stores, like so many retailers, experienced their fair share of challenges during the pandemic-led recession of the last year. So it is not surprising that a small retailer in this category approached signing a new lease at a South Florida mall with caution. The owner of the mall, Beth Azor of Azor Advisory Services in Weston, understood. So she gave the owner a sweetheart of a deal: free rent for October, November and December. Welcome to the Clubhouse: Why are brokers flocking to this new app?

Welcome to the Clubhouse: Why are brokers flocking to this new app? by Timothy Inklebarger June 07, 2021 With new apps designed for real estate professionals entering the market every day, the idea of adopting another one — especially one not necessarily for brokers — might seem daunting. But agents are swearing by the year-old Clubhouse app that allows more than 10 million users to host town hall-style audio-only forums on various topics. Carrie Jo Little, designated managing broker/owner of CarMarc Realty Group, started using the app in December — you still need to be invited by an existing member to use Clubhouse — and found herself immediately hooked. Little soon began hosting her own forums, focusing on various aspects of real estate, and has since amassed more than 1,700 followers. She hosts a weekly real estate forum and runs three clubs: “Real Estate Live,” “Coffee with Carrie” and “Real Estate Conference,” all of which discuss various aspects of the industry. Little frequently hosts conversations with Chicago-based real estate coach and keynote speaker Marki Lemons-Ryhal — one of their most recent forums focused on what’s happening with the real estate business after COVID.  » Read More

Exec recruitment taking more time and negotiations amid COVID-19: experts

TORONTO -- Canadian companies on the hunt for new leaders to fill their C-Suite or senior ranks during the COVID-19 pandemic are experiencing longer search times and more intense negotiations, corporate governance and hiring experts say. Since the health crisis first spread through Canada last March, they have noticed candidates are reluctant to make a switch and those that are willing to take on a new role are harder to vet without the usual in-person interviews or dinners. "Those roles are taking a lot longer to fill, and in my view, we are seeing that occur at perhaps the worst possible time," said Adam Dean, the founder of Dean Executive Search and a former investment banker. The usual search period stretching between nine months and a year is now being prolonged, he said, and the extensions are happening as companies are facing extreme upheaval. The pandemic has upended their business models, forced them to pivot on a moment's notice and sometimes, come amid both planned and unexpected retirements or departures in the top ranks.  » Read More

Here are all the companies launching live audio features to compete with Clubhouse

Clubhouse is making waves. The app, which as of May had 10 million weekly active users with more on the waitlist, recently became available on Android and was valued at $4 billion in April 2021. The idea is that users can listen to and participate in live audio chats on a huge range of topics; in practice, it became popular primarily due to Black creators, eventually attracting US tech elite such as Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. It’s become the platform of choice to have frank political discussions for South Koreans, Hong Kongers, and Palestinians.Other social media companies want in on the action. (As usual, the path to monetization isn’t clear and will be sorted out later.) Between March and May 2021, six companies announced plans to launch Clubhouse competitors, and they’re not the only ones. ”Audio is seeing a huge renaissance overall right now,” a Facebook spokesperson tells Quartz. We’ve outlined many of these new live audio features below.  » Read More

This Week in Apps: WWDC Prep, F8 recap, TikTok goes after biometric data

Welcome back to This Week in Apps, the weekly TechCrunch series that recaps the latest in mobile OS news, mobile applications and the overall app economy. The app industry continues to grow, with a record 218 billion downloads and $143 billion in global consumer spend in 2020. Consumers last year also spent 3.5 trillion minutes using apps on Android devices alone. And in the U.S., app usage surged ahead of the time spent watching live TV. Currently, the average American watches 3.7 hours of live TV per day, but now spends four hours per day on their mobile devices. Apps aren’t just a way to pass idle hours — they’re also a big business. In 2019, mobile-first companies had a combined $544 billion valuation, 6.5x higher than those without a mobile focus. In 2020, investors poured $73 billion in capital into mobile companies — a figure that’s up 27% year-over-year. This week was a busy one. Facebook held its developer conference F8 which delivered a lot of app-related news across its platform.  » Read More
