Somi Lee Leads LPGA Tour Finale And Jeeno Thitikul Takes Big Step Toward Player Of The Year

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) — Somi Lee decided to change her putting grip to be like Lydia Ko and it paid off in a big way Thursday in the CME Group Tour Championship, where the South Korean opened with an 8-under 64 for a two-shot lead in the chase for a $4 million payoff. Lee began to pull away when she went down one club to a 5-iron because of the warm conditions and set up an eagle on the par-5 17th. Her only lapse was a long three-putt bogey on the closing hole at Tiburon Golf Club. Even so, she was two shots clear of former U.S. Women’s Open champion Allisen Corpuz. Jeeno Thitikul, the No. 1 player and front-runner for LPGA player of the year, had six birdies in her round of 67, tied with three other players. Thitikul won the Tour Championship last year, and will win the points-based player of the year unless Miyu Yamashita of Japan wins this tournament. Yamashita, whose two victories this year include the Women’s British Open,  » Read More

Callaway and Topgolf Hit the Reset Button | Hypebeast

Topgolf Callaway just made a major move: it’s selling 60% of Topgolf and Toptracer to private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners for $1.1 billion USD. It’s a big reset moment and a sign that Callaway is shifting back toward being a pure golf brand, not a nightlife-and-wings entertainment empire. The deal comes only a few years after Callaway merged with Topgolf in a $2.6B USD all-stock blockbuster that was supposed to redefine the brand. And for a while, it did. Dozens of new Topgolf venues opened and the experience became a cultural gateway into the game. But building massive venues is expensive, and the business relies on constant foot traffic. When same-venue sales dipped in 2023 and early 2024, the stock price followed. Then things got complicated: Topgolf’s CEO stepped down, a planned corporate spin-off was pushed back and Callaway had to make a choice. This sale is that choice. Callaway will reportedly pocket around $770 million USD in cash, which is money that can immediately be used to pay down debt,  » Read More

Delhi blast fallout: JKSA alleges ‘collective suspicion’ of Kashmiri students – ANN News

New Delhi, Nov 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Monday alleged that Kashmiri students across several northern states are facing profiling, eviction and intimidation in the aftermath of the Red Fort blast in Delhi, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to publicly intervene to “call off the vilification” of the community. Addressing a press conference here, JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami said a “particular community is being targeted after the attack”, claiming that Kashmiri students are being harassed in universities and localities in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. “Kashmiri students believe in India’s democracy and in the mainstream, not in terrorism. But they are being profiled and vilified by authorities and local people across states. Many landlords have asked Kashmiri tenants to vacate their rooms, forcing several students to return home out of fear,” Khuehami said. He added that the association had “no objection to any investigation” into the blast, but demanded that the Centre ensure the safety of Kashmiri students and prevent “collective suspicion”. “We request the Prime Minister to make a public statement.  » Read More

Phillies Rumors: Jeff Passan’s perfect move would drastically change middle of lineup

Re-signing Kyle Schwarber is the Philadelphia Phillies' top priority this winter. However, they have other needs, especially if they trade Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm, and could use some new faces in the clubhouse after two disappointing NLDS losses. Enter free agent Alex Bregman, who opted out of his deal with the Boston Red Sox. ESPN's Jeff Passan recently compiled a list of what he believes is each team's perfect offseason addition. For the Phillies, the MLB insider thinks third baseman Bregman is the ideal move for Philadelphia. The case can certainly be made that the second overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft is the right kind of player the Phillies need to add to help win a World Series.  » Read More
