LARAMIE – Sundance Wicks wrote the message on the whiteboard in his office last spring while putting together the 2025-26 roster: Specific guys for a specific mission. "The mission is to help bring Wyoming basketball back to a place where we're respected and people want to come out and watch us play and they love the guys in the community, they love the guys on the court, they do a great job in the classroom," Wicks explained. The Cowboys captured the spirit of the mission while executing a 101-59 victory over Denver on Wednesday night at the Arena-Auditorium. After a lackluster performance in the second half against Norfolk State on Sunday, UW's relentless second-year head coach read the team the riot act in the post-game locker room and challenged the Pokes to respect the process. Matija Belic, who scored a season-high 13 points against the Pioneers, said Tuesday's preparation was the best of the season. "We responded the way we should," Belic said. » Read More

In a statement on Wednesday (Nov 26), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said that Meta — the parent company of Facebook — and TikTok were respectively issued a disabling direction, and account restriction direction, under the Online Criminal Harms Act (Ocha). Ocha came into force in February 2024 and allows the Government to remove criminal content online. MHA explained that the directions were issued over Zulfikar's repeated attempts to stir up discontent within the local Malay/Muslim community against the Chinese community in Singapore. "He has incited feelings of enmity, hatred, ill-will and hostility against, contempt for and ridicule on different racial and religious groups in Singapore," MHA said. According to MHA, the government has received numerous feedback from members of public, including several police reports, that Zulfikar's posts threaten racial and religious harmony in Singapore. "MHA and SPF assess that overall, Zulfikar's online contents are offences under Section 17F(3) of the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act 1990," added MHA. » Read More

The Grand Junction Community Facebook page, which has over 16,000 members, is connecting families in need with members willing to provide Thanksgiving turkeys. Page administrators pulled together their resources to help bridge the gap between those who need assistance and those able to help. Families seeking help can make a post on the page or send a direct message to an admin, who will then connect them with another member willing to assist. “We do have, you know, government programs and non-profits. But there’s always, sometimes, some gaps that happen. And we’ve been able to utilize this group as a way to fill in those gaps. Because everyone still deserves a chance to be able, you know, to find and have their needs met,” said Lynette Rose, page admin. The program will continue connecting families through Thanksgiving. Administrators said they are working on additional holiday resources, » Read More

The 54-year-old Australian has been making social media posts inciting hatred between different racial and religious groups in Singapore. In 2016, Zulfikar was detained under the Internal Security Act for promoting terrorism and online glorification of the terrorist group, ISIS. His recent posts include one made on June 19 on TikTok, where he falsely claimed that Malay Muslims were forced to move away from Islam and assimilate into the Chinese community in Singapore. Similarly, a video posted on Facebook on July 18 claimed the Chinese in Singapore were colonial settlers, not migrants, and that Singapore’s ideology had insulted, degraded and oppressed Malays. The directions under the Online Criminal Harms Act (OCHA) would see the TikTok account and Facebook page disabled. The directions were not issued to X, formerly known as Twitter, where Zulfikar continues to make similar claims. » Read More

Until now, users had two modes: posting publicly under their real profile or posting fully anonymously. Nicknames introduce a middle ground: privacy without disappearing, and personality without exposing your real-life identity.A Shift Away From Facebook’s Real-Name EraFor years, Facebook’s “real name” policy defined the platform. Nicknames are Meta’s answer. How It WorksWhen creating a post inside a Group that supports the feature, users will now see an option next to “Post anonymously” to set and customize a nickname.
