LinkedIn Leverages GitHub Actions, CodeQL, and Semgrep for Code Scanning – InfoQ

LinkedIn has redesigned its static application security testing pipeline (SAST) to provide consistent, enforceable code scanning across a GitHub-based, multi-repository development environment. The initiative was a result of the company's shift-left strategy by delivering fast, reliable, and actionable security feedback directly in pull requests, strengthening the security of LinkedIn's code and infrastructure and helping protect members and customers. At a high level, SAST analyzes source code to identify potential vulnerabilities early in the development lifecycle. At LinkedIn's scale, legacy approaches that relied on multiple disconnected scanners and custom integrations resulted in uneven coverage, limited visibility into pipeline health, and friction for developers. The redesign aimed to standardize scanning, simplify adoption, and more deeply embed security into developer workflows without introducing bottlenecks. At the start of the redesign, LinkedIn engineers established key guiding principles, prioritizing developer-first security to minimize workflow interruptions, extensibility to allow other teams to add rules or integrations, resilience to prevent failures from affecting developers, and observability to monitor coverage and performance at scale. The new architecture leverages GitHub Actions to orchestrate two primary scanning engines, CodeQL and Semgrep, chosen for their complementary coverage and extensibility. LinkedIn engineers implemented custom workflows to manage rule execution, orchestrate scanning, and

Should You Place the ‘Open to Work’ Banner on Your LinkedIn Profile Photo? – Military.com

Without question, when addressing job seekers or people navigating career transition about the virtues of LinkedIn visibility and positioning, someone will ask about the green banner that reads, “Open to Work.” Is it a good idea to add it to your profile photo? Does it help you get found and seen by recruiters? Does it scream of desperation? Many of us who teach about using LinkedIn have differing opinions on the banner, which was introduced by LinkedIn during the COVID pandemic to aid job seekers. Personally, I am not a fan. To me, the banner should not be needed to get a recruiter’s attention, might limit your networking possibilities (if those you seek to connect with worry that you’ll hit them up for leads and a job), and can feel distracting. My reasoning is this: Your personal brand and value proposition should be prominently displayed on and throughout LinkedIn. From your profile photo, About section and how you describe your experience and skills, to your network and the content you share, I should get a clear idea of who you are, what you can offer, and what you’re looking for. I should believe that what you say is true, that

Agent Factory Recap: Build an AI Workforce with Gemini 3 | Google Cloud Blog

In this episode of the Agent Factory , Smitha Kolan and Vlad Kolesnikov are joined by Brandon Hancock, a full-stack engineer and the creator behind the YouTube channel AI with Brandon , where he teaches AI concepts to over 80,000 developers. This was a very special recording, taking place just hours after Google released several major updates, including the new flagship model Gemini 3 , the Antigravity coding environment, and updates to the Gemini CLI . We spent the episode exploring these new tools through live demonstrations. Gemini 3 and Gemini CLI Gemini 3 is Google's newest flagship model, designed for advanced high-level reasoning and complex agentic operations, making it ideal for orchestration. Gemini CLI is a command-line interface that allows developers to interact with Gemini models directly from their terminal. It supports piping inputs and outputs, making it a powerful tool for chaining prompts and building lightweight "AI employees" without complex infrastructure. Building a Personal Portfolio with Gemini 3 Pro Timestamp: 01:18 Smitha kicked off the demos by using Google AI Studio and Gemini 3 Pro to build a personal website from scratch in minutes. How to become a LinkedIn influencer – Doaneline

Doane alum Nick Kouma helps workshop attendees navigate LinkedIn. Photo by Mackenzie Pike | The Doane Owl On Thursday, Jan. 28, Doane alum Nick Kouma returned to host a workshop centered around the networking and employment site, LinkedIn. Kouma, who has over 500 connections and more than 10,000 followers, shared his expertise on how to build a strong profile, network efficiently and build a strong brand.  To begin, Kouma spoke highly of LinkedIn as a way to connect with others. He finds it to be a place where one can be their authentic self. Kouma acknowledged that his mental health advocacy might alienate some of his audience, but especially as a man in the tech industry, such conversations are important to him. Thus, his first main point is setting intention and building your content “why.”  He explains that posts on LinkedIn should operate like a round-table discussion, not putting a letter in the mail. “If you aren’t thinking about your message anymore, why should others?” said Kouma. To encourage engagement, he suggested creating posts that invite responses. One student in the audience, senior Violet Ahrens, applied this advice by crafting a post that reflected on their own “why” statement and prompted
