Portland Meteorologist Moving North to Seattle – Adweek

By Kevin Eck on Sep. 23, 2021 - 3:38 PM Meteorologist Brian MacMillan is leaving Portland, Ore. Fox affiliate KPTV to work in Seattle. MacMillan announced the news on LinkedIn, saying he’s leaving the station after 12 years to work as the weekday morning meteorologist at KCPQ in Seattle. His last day at KPTV will be Friday, Sept. 30. “These types of changes are always bittersweet, however this is an incredible opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said MacMillan. “This move brings my wife and I back to our home town and gives us a chance to be closer to our families.” MacMillan began his local TV career at KOHD in Bend, Ore. He started working at KPTV in 2009.

LinkedIn has identified the startups that are attracting top talent this year, even amid some of the largest employee turnover in history.On Wednesday the Sunnyvale, California-based networking platform released its fifth annual list of 50 U.S. companies on the rise. The list tracks growth in employee count, interest from people looking for jobs, and how people interact with the online presence of the company and its employees. It also measures the startups' ability to bring in employees from LinkedIn's Top Companies list, which includes more established businesses like Amazon and Alphabet. All startups on the list are less than seven years old, headquartered in the U.S., and have at least 50 employees. LinkedIn used data from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. The ranking features some of the year's breakout companies, like Clubhouse, and others that flourished in the pandemic, like Discord. Iowa farm cooperative hit by ransomware, systems go offline | KOB 4

Member-owned New Cooperative said in a statement that the attack was "successfully contained" and that it had quickly notified law enforcement. It said it took its systems offline out of "an abundance of caution" and was working with data security professionals to quickly remedy the situation. It did not specify when the ransomware was activated. The attack hit just as Iowa's corn and soy harvesting is getting under way, Security researcher Allan Liska of Recorded Future said the criminals demanded a $5.9 million ransom for a decryptor key to unlock files they scrambled. He said a sample of their malware was uploaded to a research site either late Friday or early Saturday. Security researchers believe BlackMatter may be a reconstituted version of the ransomware syndicate DarkSide that disrupted the Colonial Pipeline last spring then announced it was disbanding. Indian procure-to-pay startup PayMate is seeking to raise $4 million, including a lead investment of $2 million from U.S.-based Felicitas Equity Fund, as well as additional funds from Astor Management and CXI Valley I, Inc42 reported. In 2019, according to Crunchbase, FinTech PayMate was invested in by Visa, Recruit Strategic Partners, Brand Capital and Mayfair 101.
