My piece last month about the fierce competition to attract and retain professionals working in the field of ESG — environmental, social and governance metrics and strategy — elicited a rousing response, more so than most other pieces we’ve published on GreenBiz. The responses came in the form of direct emails, Twitter comments and a dozen or so LinkedIn posts referencing the article. Together, they yielded more than 1,000 reactions and comments — many complimentary, some decidedly not, most of them quite passionate. Clearly, when you write about people’s livelihoods and careers, nearly everyone has an opinion. Or two. One particular set of comments was spurred by a LinkedIn post about my article by Mike Barry. Barry spent more than 14 years leading sustainability at Marks & Spencer, the U.K.-based multinational retailer, where he is credited with creating the company’s Plan A ("because there is no Plan B") initiative back in 2007. He is a strategic adviser to companies and nonprofits — and, from what I’ve seen, a social media maven. Arvinder Gujral, managing director of Twitter Southeast Asia and senior director of business development of APAC will be leaving his role after eight years with the company. In a personal LinkedIn update, Gujral thanked the team for the “incredible ride” and “lifelong friendships”. Gujral took on the managing director role in 2017 and according to his LinkedIn, helped SEA to grow to become a top 10 revenue and audience market in the world in Twitter in four years. Twitter has confirmed his departure from the company and said it is “actively looking for his replacement”. “We thank Gujral for his contributions to Twitter and remain highly committed to Southeast Asia. We have strong teams in place to engage and support our customers, advertisers and partners in the Southeast Asian markets which are part of our Asia Pacific business. Overall, we continue to hire and invest in Asia Pacific to serve the public conversation across this high-growth region,” the statement read. Demand for recruiters is soaring in the UK, according to new data from LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network. In June 2021, there were nine times more recruiter jobs posted compared to June 2020, and over two times more than the 2019 average. Demand is also increasing across Europe, particularly in Italy and Spain where there are 8x more recruiter jobs being advertised compared to last year. Globally, the demand for recruiters fell sharply between February and April of 2020 when the first wave of the pandemic hit. As 2020 progressed and economies started to reopen, recruiter roles increased as businesses looked to hire more staff, before surpassing pre-pandemic levels in the UK in January 2021. People transitioning careers into recruitment roles in the UK mainly come from sales, human resources and business development functions. A heartwarming account of how a man managed to track down ‘Rahul’ in London to return his wallet has managed to capture the attention of thousands of people on Twitter. It all started when Ghazi Taimoor, whose Twitter bio identifies him as the Head of Professional Education at Lahore University of Management Sciences School of Education, took to the microblogging platform on Thursday about finding a wallet on a street in London."Guys! GLOVERSVILLE — More people are interested in the Fulton County Center for Regional Growth’s website, Facebook, internet outlets and other social media platforms, officials said. Ken Adamczyk, CRG economic development specialist, recently told his agency’s board of directors about analytics and other data coming in through CRG sites. Those sites impacted include the CRG website — www.fccrg.org; and the CRG’s blog and the agency’s LinkedIn account. He said people are seeking more information about Fulton County, N.Y. “They want to know what’s within an hour radius of us,” Adamczyk said. “They want to know what’s around us.” The CRG official said users of these platforms are seeking information about the area food industries and what’s local. “It kind of gives us an idea of what they’re looking for,” he said of the data collected. Adamczyk shared information with the board demonstrating how usage of CRG social media outlets is up.
