Dave Citron, a former senior director of product at Google DeepMind , has joined Microsoft as a corporate vice president, marking the latest high-profile departure in the escalating battle for AI talent. Citron, who will serve as the Corporate Vice President of Product at Microsoft AI , announced the move in a LinkedIn post, stating he was “energized by Microsoft AI’s pace, principles, and product craft.” The hire is a significant win for Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman , who is actively recruiting top talent from his former employer. Fraudulent CV-writing services are now the biggest scamming threat to online job hunters as the busy post-summer hiring season gets under way, LinkedIn has warned. The professional networking site revealed that over a third (37%) of job scams reported on the platform globally now involve offers to write or improve CVs, which give poor quality or misleading results and often use artificial intelligence tools that are available at no cost. These scams can also put personal information at risk, with CV-writing fraudsters twice as likely to ask LinkedIn members to take the conversation off the platform. The alert comes ahead of the typical annual jump in recruitment throughout September, with workers returning from their summer holidays and as new graduates enter the workforce for the first time. Hiring soars by 44% on average in September across the UK, according to LinkedIn. But the group said there are now half as many job openings per applicant compared with 2022, with recruitment becoming ever more competitive. New research from professional social media site LinkedIn has found a tension between optimism and frustration when it comes to using artificial intelligence at work, with 46 per cent of those surveyed feeling like learning new AI tools is taking on another job, 51 per cent believing they aren’t realising the potential of AI, though 57 per cent optimistic about it improving daily work life.  Eighty-two per cent of respondents believed trusted human insight is irreplaceable, even as AI tools become more advanced. 28 per cent felt embarrassed about their level of understanding, and 32 per cent felt nervous to talk about it.  Brendan Wong, Career Expert at LinkedIn Australia, said: “Balancing day-to-day responsibilities with the need to quickly build AI skills isn’t easy, but Australians are turning that pressure into progress.  “Through AI, everyone has access to information and it’s becoming a commodity.
