Viral Cat in the Hat TikTok trend sparks fake videos and real fear – BBC

Chris Haston/WBTV via Getty Images The Cat in the Hat, a character from the eponymous Dr Seuss book, has been depicted on screen multiple times, including photographed here on a US talk show "He's so scary!" says 16-year-old Skye, recoiling at the mention of the Cat in the Hat. Viral images purporting to show a life-sized version of the Dr Seuss character on the streets after dark have sparked fear and confusion among teenagers. The posts, seen by millions, have convinced some young people that the character is real and that they might encounter it, prompting police forces in Ireland and the UK to issue statements confirming that the images and videos are fake. "I was having a sleepover," Skye elaborates, "but everyone started watching Cat in the Hat videos. It was 3am. I wanted to go home. When I started walking down my friends' driveway, I got totally freaked out that the Cat in the Hat was going to jump out. I had to call my mum to pick me up." A quick scroll through TikTok reveals numerous accounts, many of them created in the past few weeks, sharing photos and videos of an elusive black-and-white feline wearing the

LinkedIn Users Are Removing ‘DEI’ Mentions from Profiles at Historic Rates – ABAB News

LinkedIn, as a professional network, has long reflected employment market trends, with capital paths relying on user profile completeness and keyword matching. Recent editing behaviors show a rapid switch in policy and technical priorities. Resources are shifting from maintaining DEI-related descriptions to increasing AI skill labels, motivated by changes in hiring demands and policy environment adjustments, as users actively optimize searchable signals. This is analogous to the earlier transition in resumes from 'diversity advocacy' to 'digital transformation' keywords; current professional profiles are in a phase of re-weighting from social issues to technical capabilities, with the industry overall shifting from compliance statement competition to hard skill visibility competition. Essentially, this represents a transfer of pricing power, with keywords moving from politically correct to market-scarce skills, driven by recruitment algorithms and employer preferences that directly reward verifiable technical labels, compelling users to retroactively modify historical profiles. ABAB News · Cognitive Law Profile keywords follow hiring trends AI labels are replacing policy labels Retroactive editing reveals true demand changes.

Andrew Garfield has a secret Instagram account, but why? – FemaleFirst

23 August 2026 Andrew Garfield has a secret Instagram account. Andrew Garfield is addicted to Instagram The 43-year-old actor has admitted to being "addicted" to the photo-sharing platform - even though he doesn't have a public-facing account. The Hollywood star told Variety: "I’m as addicted as anybody. My screen time notifications are horrific to me. It’s like, I’ve given all of those hours to nothing. "It’s genuinely enraging because we don’t have as much control over these impulses as we should, and it’s been by design. It’s pretty dark when you look at it." Andrew explained that he explores "weird ceramics" and "lots of Japanese kind of craftspeople" through Instagram. The actor also admitted that he'd love to escape the spotlight, in spite of his success. Asked if he's thought about leaving his acting career "behind", Andrew replied: "All the time. "I’ve worked a lot this year. I’ve done like 11 months, 12 months, straight back-to-back projects. I want people to see those projects, so I’m gonna have to tell people about them. I get that. "But if I had my druthers, people would just see them, and I could go whittle wood in the Somerset countryside and think about

Voyager 1 Took a Final Look Back at Earth 36 Years Ago. Today It’s More Relevant Than Ever.

Look closely at one of the most famous photographs ever taken of Earth and you might struggle to find Earth at all. There are no blue oceans. No continents. No clouds. Just darkness, scattered sunlight, and a tiny pale blue point almost lost within it. That dot is us. The photograph was taken 36 years ago on Valentine's Day by NASA's Voyager 1. Voyager 1 was launched in 1977 to study Jupiter and Saturn. By 1990, NASA was preparing to switch off its cameras permanently to conserve the spacecraft's limited power. But before the cameras went dark, there was one last idea. Astronomer Carl Sagan, a member of the Voyager imaging team, had spent years arguing that the spacecraft should turn around and photograph the Solar System it was leaving behind. Carl Sagan unveils the Pale Blue Dot in 1990. (The Planetary Society/Vimeo) So on February 14, 1990, Voyager captured 60 frames for a Solar System 'family portrait'. Earth appeared in one of them. From around 6.4 billion kilometers (4 billion miles) away, our entire planet occupied just 0.12 of a pixel. The bright band crossing the image was sunlight scattered inside the camera's optics. Earth happened to fall within one of those rays. The

YouTube Gold: Duke’s Greatest Buzzer Beaters

When most people think Duke buzzer beaters, they immediately go to Christian Laettner gutting the entire state of Kentucky in 1992. And fair enough, that was an iconic play. There are so many other buzzer beaters in Duke history though, and this video runs them down. It starts with Gene Banks’ big shot to put the UNC game into overtime in 1981 and just rolls on from there. Then there’s Laettner’s first great buzzer beater against UConn in 1990. Jeff Capel’s runner against UNC in 1995 is here, along with Ricky Price’s dagger at Maryland in 1996. Chris Duhon had two classic plays at Duke, one at Wake and one at UNC, and they’re both here Nate James had a devastating play against Maryland in the 2001 ACC Tournament, as is Sean Dockery’s shot to send Virginia Tech home in 2005. And of course, the two great buzzer beaters - well, three - by Austin Rivers and Tre Jones/Wendell Moore - are here as well. It’s honestly hard to pick a favorite here, but the most surprising isn’t: it’s Dockery. That one was really sweet because Virginia Tech was up, 75-74, and Coleman Collins was talking a lot of trash.
