YouTube, Vimeo Remove Conservative Entrepreneur's COVID-19 Video

The online video platforms YouTube and Vimeo have censored a video of  “The Bill Walton Show” about the danger of COVID-19 shutdowns for violating standards enforced by each company.  YouTube removed the 47-minute video of the program in which Walton interviews Jay Richards, one of three authors of the book “The Price of Panic: How the Tyranny of Experts Turned a Pandemic into a Catastrophe.”  YouTube banned the video Oct. 18, saying it “violated their community standards and their COVID-19 medical misinformation policy,” Walton, host of “The Bill Walton Show” and a trustee of The Heritage Foundation, told The Daily Signal in a phone interview Friday.  Walton, a successful business leader, investor, and entrepreneur, has produced 96 episodes of the show. From its inception in 2017, he said, YouTube never before had removed his content. The episode in question, “‘Paying the Price of Panic’ with Dr.  Jay Richards,” argues that “the harm caused by the lockdown vastly exceeds the benefits of protecting people from COVID-19,” Walton said. “That is not to say that we should not be careful,” Walton said, “ … but I am saying you can carefully protect the vulnerable while at the same time opening up the country.”  Richards, an assistant research professor in the School of Business and Economics at The Catholic University of America, wrote “The Price of Panic” with William Briggs, a mathematician and scientist who was a professor of statistics at Cornell University Medical School, and Douglas Axe, a professor of molecular biology at Biola University.  The true danger of state and local governments’ response to COVID-19 “ultimately is the loss of political and religious freedom,” Richards said on Walton’s show.  “When governments use emergencies historically in order to extend their power over more and more of society, it’s very rare in which they…

Daily Crunch: Facebook launches cloud gaming service

Facebook gets into cloud gaming while continuing its public dispute with Apple, Ant Group prepares for a massive IPO and Pinterest embraces iOS widgets. This is your Daily Crunch for October 26, 2020. The big story: Facebook launches cloud gaming service Facebook is launching a cloud gaming service of its very own, although the focus is different from Google’s Stadia or Microsoft’s xCloud. Rather than trying to recreate the console experience on other devices, the social network’s gaming service is limited to mobile games, particularly on reducing the friction between seeing an ad for a game and playing the game. The service is launching on the web and on Android, but it’s not available on iOS. Facebook blamed Apple’s App Store terms and conditions for the absence. Facebook’s Jason Rubin told TechCrunch that Apple’s rules for cloud gaming service present “a sequence of hurdles that altogether make a bad consumer experience.” The tech giants Twitter will show all U.S. users warnings about voting misinfo and delayed election results — Starting today,  » Read More

AN EVENING WITH TIM HEIDECKER: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

From the YouTube description on Tim Heidecker’s first solo comedy special: “Filmed in Los Angeles in pre-COVID times and produced by Abso Lutely, it features Tim’s unique, no-holds-barred takes on modern inconveniences, PC culture, politics and marriage. You can call it a send-up, a parody, a character, a performance piece, or whatever you’d like, but at the end of the day, it’s jokes! Please clap.” AN EVENING WITH TIM HEIDECKER: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT? The Gist: Whether or not you know Tim Heidecker will go a long way toward determining whether or not you get what Heidecker is trying to pull off here. More of you will see him soon, as he’s one of the writers and creators of the new Showtime comedy, Moonbase 8, in which he’ll co-star alongside Fred Armisen and John C. Reilly. Heidecker already has proven himself a worthy foil on the big-screen in Us, as well as previous supporting roles on HBO’s Eastbound and Down and IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang! But the bulk of his onscreen catalogue has come courtesy of Adult Swim, and Heidecker’s working relationships with Eric Wareheim, Gregg Turkington (aka Neil Hamburger) and Doug Lussenhop (aka DJ Douggpound). His list of credits includes Tom Goes to the Mayor; Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!; Funny or Die Presents…; On Cinema; Decker; Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories; Mister America; and earlier this year, Beef House. Many of these projects employed over-the-top and/or surreal visual and sound effects, bad acting, and inexplicable editing to convey the satire. None of which gets used during An Evening with Tim Heidecker. Rather, Heidecker adopts an alter-ego of himself, with a leather jacket, slicked-back and sprayed-put hair, and a bad attitude and an act he has refined for more than a decade that makes fun of comedians...

Twitter User Accuses Trump of Planting Amish Man at Pennsylvania Rally

Did President Donald Trump place Amish supporters at a rally in Pennsylvania? One Twitter user appears to think so. They claimed that the president hired supporters for his rally on Monday in Lancaster County, a dominantly Amish (and apolitical) community."Trump's campaign should do their homework before hiring their 'supporters,'" one user wrote. They shared an image of the president at the rally with a man in a traditional Amish straw hat and beard, who also appeared to wear earbuds, behind him in clear view."The Amish fellow in the left of this picture is shown wearing earbuds and jacket with a zipper;the Amish shun both. And, wait for it........Amish don't VOTE!" they added.@realDonaldTrump Trump’s campaign should do their homework before hiring their “Supporters”. We can't have a man who sleeps all day in the basement," the president added, taking aim at his election rival Vice President Joe Biden....

Minecraft creator reveals the truth about this popular Steve fan theory

× Cookies help us deliver our Services. By using our Services, you agree to our use of cookies. Learn More. Any fans of Minecraft who thought that the main character Steve looked oddly familiar were not alone. It seems a rumor, started by Twitter user Yuusha, suggested that the main default Minecraft character was actually based on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City's protagonist, Tommy Vercetti — or at least inspired by him. While the original tweet which started the wildfire theory has since been deleted, it gained some serious traction. Yuusha even backed up his claim by linking to a blog post written by Minecraft creator Markus Persson, better known as Notch. The post on Tumblr — written way back in 2009 — consists of Notch seemingly describing his progress working on a game (presumably Minecraft) while mentioning a "scrapped" Grand Theft Auto "type" project. Notch said he used the designs he had created from the nixxed GTA project as a foundation for his work, since it seemed to fit the design he was going for. This was considered undeniable proof by Yuusha, and for other fans of the theory. Yuusha continued his thoughts in a thread and pointed out: "Steve and Tommy look identical and given that Notch is supposedly a big GTA fan then it might not just be coincidence." Saying that the two characters appear "identical" may be a little bit of a stretch, but the similarities are certainly there. Both Tommy and Steve have brown hair, similar skin tone, and are wearing shirts that are the same bright teal color. But besides their physical appearance, they have little to nothing in common. Tommy was a mafia gangster with violent tendencies, who decided to try out the illegal drug trade during his adventures in Grand Theft Auto:…
