Homegrown Content Rates High With Kiwi Students And Teachers

Thursday, 21 October 2021, 1:08 pm Press Release: NZ On Air Kiwi students like watching and learning from short, funny and homegrown audio/visual content, according to new research commissioned by NZ On Air and the Digital Media Trust.*The study, conducted by Waikato University Associate Professor Geoff Lealand, found that 95% of Aotearoa’s teachers use New Zealand-made audio/visual content in the classroom – up 4% on a similar study in 2016.Nearly 190 teachers, predominantly from secondary schools across New Zealand, participated in the study. They say being able to watch and listen to local content helps encourage a sense of identity, pride and inclusion among students.“The primary value of New Zealand-produced content lies in its role as a ‘reflective mirror’ on cultural identity and values, while imported content offers a ‘window on a wider world’,” Lealand says.Teachers surveyed said students respond most positively to short-form content that uses humour and relates to their lives or cultural background. Coinbase Stock Jumps After Pilot Deal With Facebook Digital Wallet Novi

Coinbase Global  (COIN)  shares jumped higher Tuesday after it said Facebook  (FB) - Get Facebook, Inc. Class A Report will store funds from its new digital wallet with the cryptocurrency exchange group.Coinbase said that Facebook has chosen it as the custody partner for Novi, a new digital wallet that the social media giant says will allow users to convert local currencies into crypto via a stand-alone app that plugs into other Facebook products such as Instagram. Facebook will roll out a small pilot project, using the stablecoin Pax Dollar, in both the U.S. and Guatemala, allowing users to buy Pax through their Novi accounts. Snap Inc. is teaming up with Alphabet Inc.’s Google to let owners of the new Pixel 6 phone use its ephemeral photo-sharing app Snapchat with just two taps, its latest attempt to strengthen ties with hardware devices. Dubbed “Quick Tap to Snap,” the new feature will enable users to tap the back of the device twice to open the Snapchat camera directly from the lock screen.
