Oman banned the Clubhouse voice chat app saying it lacks the proper permit to operate, with some activists raising concerns that it’s an act censorship, Reuters said. The Oman Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said that telecom applications operating in the country must obtain a permit from the authority, adding that Oman ‘prohibits the use of many encrypted VoIP applications without an official license’. Kenyan YouTube content creators are expected to submit their tax information to the video-sharing platform by March 31 in order to avoid a hefty 24 per cent taxation on their earnings. In a new requirement, the Google-owned service will require content creators to pay tax to the United States. YouTube wrote a statement to creators, informing them of the condition that is set to begin in June. “We are reaching out because Google will be required to deduct US taxes from payments to creators outside the US later this year. (Federal court records)A 20-year-old Malden man charged with running a drug trafficking “enterprise” put an add out on Snapchat advertising pills for sale and boasted about making money through drug dealing in YouTube rap videos, according to federal investigators.In an affidavit unsealed in a Boston federal court, FBI agents describe how investigators watched Dhamari Jordan’s YouTube videos and responded to his Snapchat ad listing Percocet and Adderall for sale.When Jordan, who goes by the name DMO Crashout on his YouTube page, posted the drug advertisement, an undercover Massachusetts State Police trooper reached out.The Snapchat ad was viewed by the trooper on Dec. 3. Working undercover, the trooper asked Jordan the price per pill. The response was, “$20 a pill,” authorities wrote in the affidavit.About five minutes later, Jordan called the undercover trooper and discussed the quality of the pills and future possible deals, an FBI agent wrote in court records.Investigators were already familiar with Jordan. In a ruling issued this week, the court found that due to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, Vimeo was right to take down the videos and user account of James Domen, founder of the “ex-LGBTQ” United Church of California. Domen initially lost his lawsuit in 2019 in the U.S. District Court of Southern New York, but appealed to the Second Circuit of Appeals.
