This will be welcome news to dark mode enthusiasts. This week, Snapchat has confirmed that it's testing a new dark mode option with a small percentage of users, moving into line with almost every other app that now has a low light option. As you can see in these screenshots, shared by Appleosophy, for those that have the dark mode option available, there's a new 'App appearance' section within your app settings. There, you can select whether you want your app to align with your device settings (switching to dark mode at a certain time of day), or revert to dark mode all the time for Snapchat. It's not widely available, so you likely won't see it yet. But the fact that it's now moved into the live test phase would suggest that it is coming soon, with a broader roll out seemingly on the cards in the near future. Snapchat has confirmed to SMT that the initial, limited test is now live. As noted, Snapchat is one of the last major social apps to add dark mode, with most apps making the option available following updates to iOS 13 and Android 10 respectively to better facilitate dark mode switching.…

Unknown actors usually don't have a prayer when it comes to snagging an Oscar nomination. Minister-turned-moviemaker Richard Rossi may get a miracle. HOLLYWOOD, CA., UNITED STATES, January 23, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Unknown actors usually don't have a prayer when it comes to snagging an Oscar nomination. Minister-turned-moviemaker Richard Rossi may get a miracle on the strength of his portrayal of con man preacher Brother Billy in Canaan Land. Rossi is competing for a 2021 Oscar with his controversial film “Canaan Land” about a con man preacher named Brother Billy (played by Rossi) who falls in love with a sincere Christian (Rebecca Holden). Rossi’s portrayal lays bare Billy’s secrets. His performance as an aging grifter who lives off the kindness of women is a master class on acting. It is the greatest acting performance of the year. “Canaan Land” can be seen for a limited time on Vimeo.com here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/canaanland “Media is in financial trouble due to covid,” a former award winner said. “The studios spend to get their A-listers a Best Actor nod, so it’s near impossible for an unknown actor without marketing money to fight that.” “Canaan Land” comes out of my past experiences as a minister,” Rossi said.…

What happens when an elected official who’s still in office tries to overturn an election result? This happens everywhere, and it doesn’t raise eyebrows—unless it happens in America. After the storming of the Capitol, conglomerates like Boeing, Chevron, American Express, and Verizon all came out in defense of American democracy. The problem is that none of them can have the same impact as tech companies in this space. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch, Reddit, Discord, Stripe, Pinterest, and TikTok (bet they enjoyed that!) either banned or restricted the actions of Donald Trump. Even Shopify pulled down stores selling his campaign merchandise. They did what US law had been unable to do: Silence an elected official who’s still serving out his term of office. But is the responsibility theirs? Incongruent values. It’s futile at this point to try to see this in terms of binary right or wrong actions. We don’t have the requisite principles, and often we conflate speech with digital participation. You might argue that these companies are private spaces, private platforms, private communities, and therefore they have the right (and responsibility) to decide how to manage those. But society often finds it hard to reconcile these two ideas:…

By Brooks Conkle Let’s talk content marketing strategy, particularly what I like to call the “spider web” strategy. It’s important as you begin creating more and more content for it to all connect. It will start small, but will eventually grow into a beautiful content web. Now, before we get started, I don’t want to assume we’re using the same definition for content marketing. My definition of content marketing goes something like this: the process of creating valuable pieces of content as a way to educate others and eventually do business with those people. Here’s a specific example: Maybe your business sells a bread-making machine. So your company creates content that educates people on bread making—and maybe info about how bread making works and information on the best kinds of bread. You also write articles on the best types of cheese to melt over your bread, and produce videos on making bread for sandwiches. People learn from you, and after they trust you as a credible source, a percentage of those people buy your bread-making machine. This is content marketing. In this article, we’ll discuss different aspects developing an effective content marketing strategy by building out a web for your…

Camila Cabello has launched the Healing Justice Project, a fund to provide mental health support for frontline workers and activists. The singer has partnered with the Movement Voter Fund to provide funding to ten organisations for resources to help with their workers’ mental wellbeing. As Billboard report, Cabello provided the seed money for the venture, and the first round of ten grants will total nearly $250,000 (£180,000). The ten organisations chosen will receive grants to provide six months of mental healthcare for their key workers. Cabello’s work in the field of racial and social justice comes after racist Tumblr posts she made as a teenager resurfaced at the end of 2019. Between 2012 and 2013, Cabello shared a series of racist posts on her Tumblr account, including racist jokes and imagery. In a lengthy apology posted to Twitter at the time, Cabello admitted her messages were “horrible and hurtful,” adding: “When I was younger, I used language I was deeply ashamed of and will regret forever. “I was uneducated and ignorant and once I became aware of the history and the weight and the true meaning behind this horrible and hurtful language, I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it.…
