Morgan Freeman Honors MLK in 12 Instagram Videos

Today marks the birthday of iconic Civil Rights activist and leader Martin Luther King Jr. Many celebrities like to share the impact King made via their social media accounts by posting an image found through a Google search, slapping a quote on it and calling it a day. His birthday has also become a day where companies like to appease the black community by putting his name on basketball jerseys or generically “sprinkling his name on b*llsh*t” as called out by influencer Leslie Antonoff (@HauteMommie), who accurately dubs these instances as #UnityParsley. Morgan Freeman, however, has set a new standard by honoring MLK through 12 original Instagram videos featuring King’s very own words. All of which, are still applicable to life today. Freeman began posting the commemorative videos on his IG page beginning 8 AM ET, releasing a video every hour on the hour. The videos feature Freeman narrating quotes from King, while showcasing memorials that were backdrops to the 14 year (and counting) movement like the Edmund Pettus bridge where the march from Selma took place, the Lincoln memorial where he gave the iconic “I Have A Dream” speech, and the recently erected MLK memorial in Washington, D.C. that…

Cubs Fans Lose Their Minds on Twitter Over Jon Lester's Move to Nationals

Cubs fans lose minds on Twitter over Lester news originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago Let’s hope Cubs fans took advantage of Jon Lester’s free round of drinks while they could. NBC Sports Lester, one of the biggest free agent signings in Cubs –and Chicago—history, is headed to the Washington Nationals. He is signing a one-year deal with a mutual option, pending a physical, according to multiple reports. Lester signed with the Cubs on Dec. 15, 2014 and made an immediate impact, helping vault the Cubs to the NLCS in his first season and a World Series title the year after. The fan favorite also earned two All Star bids during his time on the North Side. As expected, Cubs fans are…well…not happy to see him go. Jon Lester signing with the Nationals and not finishing his career with the Cubs is sad.Cubs re-signing Jon Lester for 2021+ wasn't exactly making anything better for the team. There are a lot of emotions stirring around and yeah, things stink for the Cubs right now.— Aldo Soto (@AldoSoto21) January 19, 2021 Beyond disappointing the Cubs offer to Jon Lester came very late in the process and was not close to the money the…

Users pay with personal data – Kaspersky on WhatsApp move to share data with Facebook

Messaging app WhatsApp has asked its two billion users to accept new terms and conditions that will allow the platform to share more information with parent company Facebook and roll out advertising and e-commerce. The update sparked criticism among users as they must accept the changes or see their access to the service - which also allows encrypted voice and video calls - cut off from Feb 8. According to Kaspersky, the update is another example of users having to pay with their data in order to use "free" services. "Nothing is truly free, and, unfortunately, the current business model for free services means that, essentially, we pay with our data," says Anna Larkina, senior researcher at Kaspersky. Larkina says social networks, some messengers and search engines make money off of advertising, and the more personalised it is the better.  "In fact, Facebook and other companies have been doing this through its services for the past few years," she says. "The good news is that 1) Most of the companies, including Facebook, are being transparent about its policies and 2) WhatsApp doesn’t read your conversations because it includes end-to-end encryption. All they’re tracing is technical and account information." Moving forward,…
