If job searching is on the agenda during the pandemic, be on the look-out for job scams. Jordan Dixon was recently laid off from his job as a graphic designer due to the pandemic. So he jumped on LinkedIn, and quickly found a designer job listing at a company called “Miller Paints.” “It was for a multimedia designer opportunity,” Dixon said. WhatsApp Tries To Clear Confusion Surrounding Facebook Data Sharing Policy

WhatsApp has been embroiled in a flurry of confusion since a change in the company's privacy policy sparked the ire of many. People such as Elon Musk suggested that users switch to rival Signal as it does not collect nearly as much data, and that call to action sparked millions to download Signal. All this chaos did not fall on deaf ears, though, as WhatsApp is pushing back its changes and trying to clean up the mess it made. Today, WhatsApp penned a blog post in an attempt to make amends and try to clear the air after what happened earlier this week. The explained that it "heard from so many people how much confusion there is around our recent update," and it lays the blame on "a lot of misinformation causing concern." Specifically, the company claims that messages are only between users, and Facebook and WhatsApp can't see them. Furthermore, WhatsApp does not keep logs of messages or calls, and it cannot see shared location data. Since these things seemed to cause a lot of confusion, the date people will have to review and accept the terms is being shoved back until May 15th. The company is also planning…

Maryland man slated for execution tonight pleads for clemency from President Trump

Nearly 2,000,000 people have signed a petition asking the federal government not to execute Dustin Higgs, who was convicted of ordering the murder of three DC women. BELTSVILLE, Md. — Sometime Friday night, a Maryland man is scheduled to become the 13th and likely final person put to death by the Trump administration since it restarted federal executions in 2020.  Dustin Higg's lawyer, Shawn Nolan, told WUSA9 he's still hopeful the Supreme Court will refuse to lift a stay -- but the court has allowed 12 other executions to go forward in the last six months. The Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court to let his execution move forward.  Higgs continues to maintain his innocence in a particularly horrifying crime, and nearly two million people have signed a petition calling for him to be spared. Dustin John Higgs is going to be executed for a crime he didn't commit. He was accused of killing three girls but later to be found not guilty. All witnesses, including the man who actually killed the girls, confirm Dustin's innocence. This innocent man should be spared. On Jan. 27, 1996, a passing motorist found the bodies of three D.C. women on the side…

Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms may be forced to change after Capitol riot …

For years, Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act has allowed social media platforms to moderate content without being liable for what their users post. Experts told CNBC that after the Jan. 6 pro-Trump riot at the U.S. Capitol, that may be about to change."I think that these social media companies need to be dealt with as publishers," said former Facebook executive Chamath Palihapitiya. "And I think at the front of the line is Facebook, because they are algorithmically deciding — there are people inside of that company that are building these things, that are amplifying the lobotomized, the intellectual cornering of people, so that they cannot learn what's really happening, so that their worst fears and their worst concerns are amplified."Facebook is a much larger company than it was when it was founded eight years after the Communications Decency Act was passed. It reported over 196 million daily active users across the U.S. and Canada in the third quarter of 2020 and $21.47 billion in revenue.Though all social media companies would be affected by a change to Section 230, Palihapitiya, the founder and CEO of Social Capital, differentiated Twitter from Facebook. "The problem with Facebook is different, which…
