As Chinese regulators ramp up their fight against unfair competition, the rapid expansion of tech giants through mergers and acquisitions is coming under stricter scrutiny. The toughening regulatory posture against anticompetitive practices may throw into question the proposed multibillion dollar acquisition of game-streaming site DouYu International Holdings Ltd. by rival Huya Inc. The combination could create a Chinese game livestreaming leader akin to Amazon.com Inc.’s Twitch Interactive Inc. The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), the country’s antitrust watchdog, said last month it is reviewing the deal, which was engineered by China’s game and social media giant Tencent Holdings. The merger of Huya and Douyu, both backed by Tencent, would give Tencent a 67.5% stake in the new company, according to an agreement announced in October. This would further consolidate Tencent’s dominant status in China’s 30 billion yuan ($4.6 billion) gaming market, the world’s biggest. Tencent built up its command of the Chinese gaming industry through massive acquisitions of small rivals. For the first time ever, Twitch is live streaming an NFL Playoff game, complete with a live chat. What could possibly go wrong? The New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears will be on full display at 4:40 p.m. ET in their NFC Wild Card matchup. It’s a game that will draw all kinds of crowds, as it is being simulcast on CBS and Nickelodeon (Yes, that Nickelodeon), in addition to the Twitch stream. Twitch’s stream features full pregame coverage from CBS Sports analysts. The broadcast of the game itself is pulled from CBS, with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo providing commentary. Investigators on Sunday were trying to determine a motive for the Saturday afternoon attacks in which police say 32-year-old Jason Nightengale apparently chose his victims at random. Police killed Nightengale in a shootout just north of the city about four hours after authorities say he shot his first victim in the head in a South Side parking garage. Those killed included a 30-year-old University of Chicago student from China named Yiran Fan, Anthony Faukner, 20, and Aisha Nevell, 46, a security guard. Wounded were a 77-year-old woman, 81-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl, according to Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown. Another woman was shot in the neck in Evanston, police in the suburb said. Authorities didn't release many details about Nightengale, a Chicago man whose LinkedIn page listed work over the years as a janitor, security guard and forklift operator. A probable cause statement from the 1st District Court of Cache County said Tanner Paul Clark, 27, is facing charges of: Enticing a minor by internet or text, a second-degree felony Three counts of enticing a minor by internet or text, a third-degree felony Failure to register as a sex offender, a third-degree felony On Jan. 6, dispatch received a report of a man who had just gone to meet a minor at a church at 2394 W. 2200 South in Logan, the statement said. The complainant, a friend of the victim, was able to get a picture of the vehicle’s license plate which returned to a Tanner Clark out of South Weber. Clark was found to be on probation with Adult Probation and Parole and is a registered sex offender, the statement added. The victim, a 15-year-old female, told officials that Clark added her as a friend on Snapchat at the beginning of December. “She stated Tanner identified himself as a 17-year-old from Brigham City,” the statement said. “She stated that…
