Twitch / TwitchSteven R. December 28, 2020Favoritism among decision-makers on Twitch has been a major talking point within the streaming community, and if one streamer is to be believed, it’s a very real phenomenon. In a since-deleted discussion on Twitch, streamer QTCinderella alleged that she had heard of admissions of favorable treatment for certain streamers by moderators at Twitch. QTCinderella recounted a discussion of a NSFW video accidentally becoming part of Ludwig Ahgren’s broadcast, and how they received no punishment due to a moderator being a fan of his. “I was like ‘you should probably delete your VOD, because if you got banned you’d be so upset.’ Before he could even delete it, it was already deleted and he got a message from his manager that was like ‘yo, you didn’t get banned because my boss likes you,’” QTCinderella said. The comments clearly had QTCinderella frustrated. She noted that this sort of blatant favoritism shouldn’t be how Twitch operates, given how streamers’ livelihood depends on the fair and equitable enforcement of the company’s rules. Does Twitch play favorites between streamers? There are a slew of examples of popular streamers avoiding bans or receiving unusually short bans for unclear reasons. The…

We predict reasonable Snapchat user growth of 6.8% in Western Europe this year, resulting in 76.2 million new users on the platform, or nearly 22% of the region’s internet users. However, this growth is up only slightly from our November 2019 prediction of 6.3%.While a pandemic-induced bump was expected, competition from TikTok will prevent Snapchat from growing more robustly. We expect to see strong TikTok user growth rates this year across France (88.7%), Germany (79.7%), and the UK (75.2%).Whatever the story, Snapchat user growth in Western Europe is slowing substantially—the rate of growth will be almost half that of 2019 and drop to just 1.2% by the end of 2024. And across the three biggest economies in Europe—the UK, France, and Germany—Snapchat’s user growth will vary. Those differences begin with the UK set to post the smallest increase in user numbers, rising by 3.4% to 16.1 million in 2020. Although that growth rate will be up from our previous prediction—we expected only 2.1% growth in our November 2019 forecast—it represents only a small pandemic bump.TikTok’s increasing prevalence will likely contribute to this muted growth. In late September, Bloomberg reported that TikTok had 17 million monthly active users (MAUs) in the UK,…

December 27, 2020 | 9:23pm Enlarge Image Hilaria Baldwin and Alec Baldwin Taylor Hill/WireImage Alec Baldwin trashed the Twitter user who questioned his wife’s claim of Spanish heritage in a bizarre rant on Instagram Sunday, comparing her to “used coasters with the rings on them and the stains on them.” The 62-year-old “30 Rock” star also took aim at Twitter, where Leni Briscoe started a thread Monday that questioned Hilaria Baldwin’s claim she was born in Mallorca. “Just a lot of s—t,” Alec Baldwin said on Instagram. “You have to kind of hack your way through the debris of Twitter. Twitter is just a vast orchard of crap. “And I have certainly slung some crap in that orchard myself every now and then with things I’ve said. So, that’s not lost on me that I’m guilty of that as well.” “But I would publicly dump Twitter tomorrow,” he said. The online firestorm started with Briscoe’s posts Monday questioning Hilaria Baldwin’s fluctuating accent and past claims she was born in Spain and raised in Boston. “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person,” Briscoe wrote. The viral exposé prompted a post…

The Chargers defeated the Broncos by the score of 19-16 on Sunday, marking their third consecutive victory. Like any given Sunday for Los Angeles, it was another nail-biter that came down to the final moments of the game. With 41 seconds remaining, kicker Michael Badgley hit the game-winning field goal, tying his career-high with four fields goals. While the outcome was promising, the product itself still was reminiscent to the majority of the contests this season in regards to the play-calling and game management, leaving fans concerned with the thought of Anthony Lynn coaching the team beyond this season. To get an idea on how many are feeling, here’s how social media reacted to L.A.’s Week 16 win. The Chargers winning these last three games in spite of Anthony Lynn, while simultaneously saving Lynn’s job is peak Chargers behavior. Buckle up y’all. — Guilty As Charged Podcast (@GACPodcast17) December 28, 2020 Why did you guys win???? @Chargers — FIRE ANTHONY LYNN (@alexjaques5) December 28, 2020 The definition of insanity is Anthony Lynn. The #Chargers are insane for keeping the man https://t.co/MFoHpoMQQd — Bicky Vick (@Vic17Monroy) December 28, 2020 These wins are killing me as a Chargers fan, because I know…

Measures of the novel-coronavirus pandemic remained generally stable in Kentucky on Sunday, as Gov. Andy Beshear made only a Facebook post giving the day's numbers. The state reported 1,509 new cases, marking the fifth consecutive Sunday that the number has been lower than the previous Sunday. Reporting on Sundays and Mondays is limited due to less testing and lab work on weekends; on top of that, this is the end of a four-day holiday weekend for most people. The share of Kentuckians testing positive for the virus in the past seven days is 8.06%, which is also the average of the last four days. The number of COVID-19 patients in Kentucky hospitals continued to decline, to 1,504, the lowest total since 1,442 on Nov. 16. Intensive care units had 411 of those patients, about the average of the last 10 days. ICU patients on ventilators totaled 217, about the average of the last five days. The state attributed the deaths of 21 more people to COVID-19, for a total of 2,555, but did not publish the usual list of deaths by gender, age and county.Counties with 10 or more new cases were Jefferson, 169; Fayette, 101; Henderson, 64; Boone, 63; Daviess, 60; Kenton, 56;…

Those who suffer damages from false YouTube videos eventually have to find a legal remedy for themselves. (image: Pixabay) SEOUL, Dec. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — In recent days, there have been frequent cases in which YouTube videos containing revelatory or defamatory content turned out to be manipulated or contain information that was demonstrably false. The owner of a restaurant in Daegu recently filed a public petition on the website of the presidential office saying that he had suffered damages following the misleading broadcast of a YouTuber. The YouTuber, a specialist in reviews of famous restaurants with more than 600,000 subscribers, posted a video claiming that the Daegu restaurant was recycling food. The contents of the video, however, turned out to be wrong. The YouTuber admitted his mistake, saying that it was caused by a misunderstanding. Although the YouTuber uploaded an apology video, it came after the restaurant had already halted operations. In July, another YouTuber, a specialist in car reviews, uploaded a video of a Tesla vehicle. The video, however, turned out to have been manipulated. Another YouTuber who claimed that a delivery person ate some of the food he ordered later apologized saying that the claim was nothing but…

Pastafarians and atheists are protected under Facebook’s hate speech provisions, internal documents show.Pastafarianism is a movement that promotes a light-hearted view of religion and opposes the teaching of intelligent design and creationism in public schools. Its website says: “With millions, if not thousands, of devout worshippers, the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is widely considered a legitimate religion, even by its opponents — mostly fundamentalist Christians, who have accepted that our God has larger balls than theirs.”Facebook has a series of documents which sets out how to moderate content on its site.
