Once, Barack Obama was known for promoting hope and change. Now he is displaying a startling, even radical, cynicism about the commitment of White Americans to racial justice. On the Snapchat political program “Good Luck America,” Obama dismissed “defund the police” as a “snappy slogan.” Obama’s concern was tactical: “You lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you’re actually going to get the changes you want done.” That was a quintessential Obama move, endorsing comity over confrontation. But in an interview with CNN’s April Ryan, the former president went all “Fear of a Black Planet,” revealing a remarkably hard-edge assessment of White anxiety. The relationship between Black people and police is “always a hot topic,” Obama observed, because it “unearths or excavates or escalates fears within the White population that somehow the African American community is going to get out of control in some way or is not respecting authority.” Wow. This is a pretty remarkable view of “the White population” coming from the man who made his big debut on the public stage proclaiming that “there’s not a Black America and a White America.” Maybe four years of President Trump can…

Twitter has suspended the account of liberal political commentator and journalist Salil Tripathi for violating its rules. It is not yet clear why his account was suspended or what rules he violated. He tweets under the username @saliltripathi. Salil Tripathi suspended by Twitter It is not known whether Twitter mistakenly suspended Salil Tripathi. Given the fact that Tripathi is an anti-Modi liberal and not a non-left voice on the platform, it is very much possible that it was unintentional and the account could be restored very soon in that case. Liberals on the platform are quite distressed at the development as it is highly unusual for a person of liberal political inclinations to be suspended despite violating rules. Some suggested that Salil Tripathi might have been suspended for posting a poem on Babri Masjid demolition. Today is the 28 year anniversary of the demolition of the disputed structure at Ram Janmabhoomi. Was Salil Tripathi’s account suspended for a poem on Babri demolition @Twitter? What rule did it break?— Samrat X সম্রাট (@MrSamratX) December 6, 2020 Rahul Gandhi fan Sanjukta Basu suggested that the suspension could be the result of a ‘technical glitch’. “This must be a mistake,” she said. Here's what the American power players are talking about on Twitter.  1. Journalism on Journalism "We journalists should have been tougher on Mr. Trump, questioning his every lie and insult," writes @jorgeramosnews. "We should not have let him get away with his racism and xenophobia." https://t.co/51ft4lzyXl — New York Times Opinion (@nytopinion) December 4, 2020 Speak for yourself. Some of us have pushed hard against every lie. Some of us pushed back from day one. Even when others would not. Some of us fought him in court - and won repeatedly. We have NO regrets. https://t.co/zIItQUFkPm — Brian J. Karem (@BrianKarem) December 6, 2020 With all due respect, the WH seized my press credentials after I called out Trump’s xenophobia when he referred to a migrant caravan as an invasion. Some of us were calling out his lies, his racism and dealt with serious death threats along the way. Inaccurate to say otherwise. https://t.co/ljTSQISuHr — Jim Acosta (@Acosta) December 5, 2020 They are only getting loud now that Trump lost. When was a moment to stand up, file affidavits, only a few brave ones did it. After the fact, anyone can do it. What matters is who did it for the free…

Facebook is rolling out several updates to US-based dealership Pages to make it easier for auto dealers to showcase and advertise their vehicles.  A digital-first strategy is important for all industries at the moment. This is no different for auto dealers who want people to see and consider their vehicles – especially now with COVID-19 keeping people out of showrooms. To make it easier for them to promote and manage their vehicles, Facebook is making several updates in the US.Related | Facebook Acquires Kustomer, Expands Into Customer Service SolutionsFirst, a new Manage Inventory tab gives dealers one place to do everything – create, manage, and promote their listings. Dealers can choose an existing catalog or create a new one by connecting to a third-party solution. Once this is set up, they can create ads using a pre-filled template.Dealers will also be able to see insights – i.e., views or leads – for those listings, helping them judge performance and plan ahead.Second is a new simplified process of creating automotive inventory ads, giving auto dealers the ability to create ads to promote inventory in just a few clicks with automotive inventory ads (AIA). They can do so by “setting up AIA to…

Note: It is the policy of the Prince William Times not to reveal the identity of any Santa Claus we may interview. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a crimp in Santa Claus’s style. He can’t touch the children or welcome kids onto his lap. “I can’t go from one house to another,” he said. “There might be germs in my beard!”But the big guy is nothing if not adaptable. Santa follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations of wearing a mask and washing hands and has instructed the elves to sing the ABC song twice while washing their hands. The “Warrenton Santa,” as he is known, will not be able to visit children at homes or businesses this year, but he’ll offer video chats over Zoom, stories over Facebook and phone calls and letters and/or “nice” certificates from Santa. Details for Warrenton Santa’s special events may be found at warrentonsanta.com. (Yes, of course Santa has a website.)Santa can also write a special message to children or send a photo of himself pictured in front of a family’s own Christmas tree.Warrenton Santa provided his bona fides: “I have worn the red suit for a number of years and have attended the International University of Santa…
