It’s November, which means the start of the PUBG Continental Series 3 is nearly upon us. The competition kicks off this weekend, with matches in Asia, the Pacific, North America, and Europe all getting underway November 5. We’ve got the full schedule, as well as how to watch, right here. Cultural references in politics have stayed on the right side of respectability and civility, doing just enough to grab attention but not genuinely engaging with people. Often coupled with last minute get out the vote efforts, these attempts at using culture come across as inauthentic or fake.  But over the past few years, a new wave of organizers are rejecting the pearl clutching of traditional political campaigns and connecting with Black and other communities of color on their own terms. “Our politics are in response to culture. Because culture tends to move way faster than politics,” Amber J. Phillips, culture organizer and strategist, said. “People consume politics and culture at the same time.” Electoral participation and civic engagement are cultural practices. Aside from attracting a new generation of civically committed people, Phillips says that culture can lead us to what a new future could look like. Instead of waiting for rushed celebrity events as a part of get out the vote activities, organizers are bringing in art, language, and music into the core of their work.  “We want to change the culture of voting,” Nse Ufot, CEO of the New Georgia Project, said in an interview with Scalawag Magazine’s As the South Votes. “We need to lean into culture in order to do so.” Ufot shared that most people were skeptical when the New Georgia Project started working with gamers. She said people had no clue what relevance gaming had to voting rights. On Halloween, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star reposted an unattributed blurb that read in part, “Those Blue Masks Mandated at grocery stores & airplanes are made of PTFE, a carcinogen made of synthetic fluoride.” The medical warning about PTFE, or polytetrafluoroethylene — a man-made chemical found in nonstick cooking coatings like Teflon — included a picture of a ubiquitous three-ply, single-use blue surgical mask. The post went on: “According to Cancer.Org it increases the risk of liver, testicle, pancreas, kidney & breast tumors + ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, preeclampsia and high cholesterol. High exposure can cause influenza-like symptoms and hemorrhaging in the lungs, leading to suffocation.” Kardashian also added her own commentary: a wide-eyed emoji and another with an exploding head. One reader, meanwhile, called her post “scaremongering.” But the American Cancer Society, listed as the source for the revelations, denounced the advisory. “There is no evidence to support the claim that the presence of PTFE in a mask causes cancer,” Dr. William Cance, chief medical and scientific officer of the ACS, told The Post. “As a surgical oncologist, I, along with thousands of colleagues in the health-care profession, have been wearing masks for years to protect patients from the spread of infections,” Cance added. Today is Election Day in the United States, but some Instagram users are being told otherwise As reported by Protocol, Instagram is mistakenly still displaying a notification at the top of some users’ feeds that simply reads, “Tomorrow is Election Day.” Instagram was inundated with complaints from users on Twitter, and the company responded by saying the “Tomorrow is Election Day” notification was cached for “some users” on Tuesday and that restarting the app should clear it: While we turned off the “Tomorrow is Election Day” notice last night, it was cached for a small group of people if their app hadn’t been restarted. It’s resolving itself as people restart. Today, people will get “It’s the Last Day to Vote” at the top of feed. Instagram spokesperson Raki Wane declined to say exactly how many people were affected by this caching issue, but Protocol anecdotally adds that some users were still seeing the “Tomorrow is Election Day” messages as late as 1:45 pm ET today. Instagram says that all users should receive accurate information via their notification center soon. Protocol also received a screenshot from a friend asking, “Why has Instagram been telling me all day so far that tomorrow is Election Day?!?” That screenshot was taken around 1:45 p.m. ET. Shortly after, Wane told Protocol, “Everyone should be receiving the accurate information shortly, as well as a notification in their notification center with accurate details.” Ideally, this notification could have been refreshed as users refreshed their feeds and their stories carousel — thereby solving the alleged caching issue. (ANI)Several of the 32 accused arrested by Faridabad Police — after a protest seeking justice for the 20-year-old woman shot dead outside her college last week turned violent — were members of WhatsApp groups where “inflammatory messages” were being sent. “Phone data of the accused showed they were part of some WhatsApp groups where hate speech was being spread and inflammatory messages that instigated violence were being sent. We are identifying all anti-social elements who have indulged in these groups and are preparing a list. Action will be taken against them as per law,” said Adarshdeep Singh, ACP (Old Faridabad). “We are also keeping an eye on other social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. Action will be taken against anyone spreading hate speech or sending inflammatory messages on these as well,” he said. Police said all 32 men arrested are “misguided youth” who came to the protests after seeing posts on social media. No links have emerged between them and any political parties so far, said officials. The protest took place on Sunday when a group of people who were part of a mahapanchayat being held to seek justice for the victim, Nikita Tomar, attempted to block NH-2. “Around 200” people from the crowd allegedly pelted stones at police officials who tried to stop them, leaving 10 personnel injured. Thirty-two people were arrested following the incident, of whom 29 have been produced in court and remanded to judicial custody. With the COVID-19 pandemic adding more challenges for underrepresented groups, LinkedIn has launched a new resource hub which includes a range of resources and guides to help provide more support for individuals and organizations. As explained by LinkedIn: "We believe that diversity, inclusion, and belonging can unlock an employee’s full potential - no matter their background. Together, we can focus on giving underrepresented groups an equal chance to build careers." The hub includes links to platform functions and best practice guides, as well as information on its 'All In' diversity and inclusion program. There are also LinkedIn Learning courses to consider, as well as a listing of LinkedIn's diversity, inclusion, and belonging partners. The initiative is part of LinkedIn's broader focus on creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce. Earlier this year, former LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner announced that he would be standing aside from the role in order to shift his attention to how the platform can connect more people with relevant opportunities. Using its unmatched professional dataset and network, Weiner is focused on finding new ways to use LinkedIn to broaden connection, which could help people of all backgrounds find the right role for them, even if they lack the personal connections that are often the key pathways to such positions.
