MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The Adam Smith era could not have started much better for William & Mary cross country. The Tribe swept the team titles at the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday morning at Pole Green Park, giving Smith a pair of victories in his first meet at the helm of the program. The W&M men captured the Spider Alumni Open for the first time since 2019, edging Georgetown by a single point, 33-34. The Tribe women followed with a 56-point performance to finish 15 points ahead of Georgetown and claim their first team title at the event since 2016. Senior Hayes Trapp led a dominant showing for the Tribe men, finishing runner-up in the 6K with a personal-best time of 18:19.0. Graduate transfer Alex Jordan made an immediate impact in his W&M debut, crossing the line fifth in a personal-best 18:29.6. W&M placed four runners inside the top eight and all five scorers among the top 12. Junior Caleb Wilcox finished sixth in 18:36.7, while sophomore Eli Phillips followed closely behind in eighth at 18:37.8. Sophomore Nolan Yeagle rounded out the Tribe's top five, placing 12th in 18:50.0. Carson Rackley (18:57.6) and Hayden Goodman (19:01.7) gave the Green and

Euronews Albania’s Instagram page is no longer accessible, raising further alarm over what has been happening to Albanian accounts on social media in recent days. Without any prior notice or warning, Euronews Albania woke up today to find its Instagram page displaying the message: “User not found.” Just last night, Euronews Albania hosted MEP Sandro Gozi on its “Review” program, where he spoke specifically about the shutdown of Albanian Instagram accounts and called for transparency from Meta. Gozi raised a straightforward question: What is happening, and why are these accounts being shut down? The MEP called on Meta to provide a clear explanation as to whether these cases are the result of technical problems, violations of the platform’s rules, or coordinated abuse of its reporting system. Less than 24 hours after that interview, Euronews Albania itself can no longer access its Instagram page. This does not prove any connection between the interview and the shutdown of the account, and without an explanation from Meta, any such conclusion would be speculation. However, the case makes the very question raised in the Euronews Albania studio just one night earlier even more relevant. In recent days, dozens of Albanian Instagram accounts have reportedly

Deputy communications minister Teo Nie Ching said the restrictions are to ensure that internet addiction can be properly addressed and that young people receive the protection they need. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA: Restrictions on social media use by teenagers should apply across all social media and not just Facebook and Instagram, deputy communications minister Teo Nie Ching said today. She said the government hoped that restrictions on Facebook and Instagram users under the age of 18, including a 2-hour limit on daily usage, and restricted access between midnight and 6am, will be extended across the world as soon as possible, Bernama reported. She said the safety features should not be limited to users in the US alone, as young people in other countries also face the risk of internet addiction. Following a US legal settlement, Facebook and Instagram will restrict access to young people under the age of 18 and discontinue features such as “infinite scroll” and “auto-feed”, while Meta has also pledged to hide the number of “likes” for underage users. Teo said measures to protect young people must be implemented comprehensively by all social media platforms. Restrictions on Facebook and Instagram alone would not be sufficient if other

A teenager holds her smartphone displaying a logo "ban under 15" in Brussels on July 7, 2026. The European Commission estimated, on July 6, 2026, that the French bill banning social media access for children under 15 was not fully compatible with European Union law, while reaffirming its support for the initiative. Like France, Spain and Denmark are also working on the introduction of a digital age of majority to follow Australia's example, who became in December 2025 the first country to implement such a law. Photo by Nicolas TUCAT / AFP via Getty Images UNICEF estimates that 20 million children ages 12 to 17 were touched by some kind of tech-enabled sexual exploitation or abuse in a recent 12-month period, across 21 countries. Close to 60% of those cases trace back to five mainstream apps — WhatsApp, TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook — while only 14% involved online games. Hispanic teens in the U.S. rank among the heaviest daily users of TikTok, the very kind of platform UNICEF's data flags most often, according to separate Pew Research Center surveys. A Global Number With a Familiar Shape UNICEF put a hard number on the problem on September 3: by its

Stockinq/Shutterstock You're jamming out to YouTube Music, whether a curated playlist or one of your own, and suddenly, an artist or track pops up that you're not fond of. Maybe it's a different genre or maybe the theme kills your mood, but whatever the case, it's a pretty common occurrence. It actually happens most often if you've left the autoplay feature enabled. When a playlist or album finishes, that allows YouTube's algorithm to play something it recommends, which may or may not jive with your tastes. It's the one setting that could be single-handedly ruining your playlists. Other times, the background algorithm gets messed up after referencing your general history, including across standard YouTube and possibly other, similar users' tastes, or even others in your household using the same YouTube account or the same devices. There's actually a pretty simple fix for all of this, though it comes with a caveat. The solution is to create a separate profile for use with YouTube Music specifically, and only use that profile to listen to music. More specifically, listen to artists, tracks, and content you love, and try to avoid branching out or exploring unless it's something you know for sure you'll

A TikTok creator rented out her 2018 Toyota Camry for a few days and expected it back on a Tuesday. Instead, she ended up standing in a stranger’s driveway watching a man pull parts out of it, and he told her he had bought the car four days earlier. Brionte (@shifilestaxes), a tax preparer whose TikTok account otherwise promotes her filing business, posted the confrontation in a one-minute, 30-second video that has drawn more than 7.9 million views.  “Hi, how are you? This is my car,” she says as she walks up. The man tells her he bought it four days ago. “I hate to hear that, because this is my car. I own this car,” she answers.  “This is a rental car,” she continues. “Whoever you bought it from, they were renting it from me. So, you gotta call them, but I’m gonna be taking this car.” She keeps going while he keeps working: “I have a rental contract and everything from them. They were supposed to return it on Tuesday.” The Camry was in the driveway rather than on the road because it would not start.  » Read More
