However, the facility in Chula Vista, California isn’t an attraction for nostalgia-seeking tourists, but an adult daycare centre for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The ambitious project is the brainchild of Scott Tarde, the CEO of Glenner Alzheimer’s Centers. As Tarde explains in this documentary, the ‘small city inside a warehouse’ was built around the principles of reminiscence therapy, which seeks to immerse those with dementia in a more familiar past rather than constantly making them readjust to a confusing and uncomfortable present. The US director Josh Izenberg documents Town Square throughout its construction and opening in 2018, when its philosophy was put to the test. He also gains intimate access to the families who used the facility in its early days. Crafted with skill and empathy, his film captures the potential of reminiscence therapy to reduce suffering while remaining honest about the immense difficulties Alzheimer’s presents for both patients and caregivers.

Sept. 8, 2026, 4:47 a.m. ET Massachusetts residents who entered the Annual Low Number Plate Lottery can watch the drawing live at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, as the Registry of Motor Vehicles selects winners for hundreds of sought-after license plates. The event will be streamed on Vimeo through the RMV website, according to a community announcement. More than 16,000 eligible residents entered the lottery for a chance to receive one of 237 available standard white passenger plates featuring low-number combinations. Among the available plates are numbers and letter-number combinations including 318, 7575, 8J, 66K, V3 and L99. Winners and alternate winners will be chosen electronically using a random number generator, according to the announcement. Registrar of Motor Vehicles Colleen Ogilvie will host the broadcast, and interim Secretary of Transportation and MBTA General Manager Phil Eng is scheduled to offer opening remarks. Odessa American, Odessa American, Texas Tue, September 8, 2026 at 12:02 AM UTC 1 min read An Odessa man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl he met via Snapchat in July was arrested on an outstanding warrant last Tuesday. According to an Odessa Police Department report, the girl told authorities in mid-July she'd met an unknown man on Snapchat weeks prior and one night he used the app to figure out where she lived and showed up outside. The girl said the man sent her pictures of himself with a firearm and told her if she didn't leave with him he'd hurt her family, the report stated. The girl told authorities she went with the man and he coerced her into an act that was redacted in the police report. Investigators used Snapchat account information and an IP address to identify the suspect as Albaro Gonzalez Porras Jr., the report stated. They also obtained videos and photos consistent with the girl's account of the incident. HALFMOON, N.Y. (WNYT) — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said a Halfmoon woman assaulted a person using a metal bar and power drill. Investigators said deputies responded at 10:10 p.m. Aug. 30 on Fellows Road in Halfmoon. Jennifer E. Garland, 36, is accused of intentionally causing physical injury by striking another person. Deputies said the person had pain and cuts to the shoulder, calf and shin. Garland also allegedly violated an order of protection. Garland is charged with assault in the second degree, aggravated criminal contempt, criminal contempt and criminal possession of a weapon.
