(WATE) — A University of Tennessee freshman is suing a foreign tech company for allegedly using a TikTok video she posted from her high school graduation party to promote its dating app. Kaeyln Lunglhofer is suing Quantum Communications. The company based in the British Virgin Islands, along with its Chinese affiliates, operate an online social media and messaging application called “Meete.” The lawsuit alleges it ran suggestive ads using stolen TikTok videos, and she only found out about it because a classmate told her he saw the ad on Snapchat. “I get sent a video where they’re making me look like a prostitute, and that was horrible,” Lunglhofer said. “I felt so embarrassed and mortified.” Lunglhofer is a nursing student who started using TikTok to go live with her friend on the platform. A “CALLOUS” Fishponds teenager who threw a cat from a balcony in a video posted on Snapchat has been banned from keeping animals for seven years. Callum James Dean Palmer has also been told to pay £500 costs and carry out a 12 month community order, including wearing an “alcohol abstinence tag” for two months, after admitting an animal welfare offenceat Bristol Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Investigators heard allegations in March 2023 that a 12-year-old juvenile had a sexual relationship with a man, including explicit messages on SnapChat and physical encounters. GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A DJ for KISS FM is facing charges related to drugs and possession of child pornography. Daniel Lieburn, whose radio name is Dan Brown, is charged with possession of child pornography, possess illegally obtained prescription, possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The criminal complaint filed Wednesday said a cyber tip led Brown County investigators to a Snapchat account allegedly associated with Lieburn. Investigators subpoenaed ISP records, then executed a search warrant at a home where Lieburn lived. The criminal complaint said Lieburn acknowledged the Snapchat account was his and indicated he remembered obtaining the video online and sending it to an unknown person. During the search, investigators found multiple different prescription and illegal drugs Lieburn’s bedroom, according to the complaint.
