After two months of contact on Snapchat, Lewis eventually ended their conversations by stating he wanted to wait until the boy was 16, prosecutors said. Lewis, of Croydon Road, in Arthur's Hill, was arrested and pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child during a previous hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court. His case was adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report and Lewis has now returned to the same court to learn his fate. A Carpentersville man is accused of befriending a 16-year-old girl on Snapchat, sexually abusing her in the parking lot of an Algonquin business and then telling her, “You earned yourself some food,” a McHenry County judge said in denying his pretrial release. Yan Carlo Moreno-Martinez, 26, was initially charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a minor, according to the criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court. But the defendant was later indicted on a more serious Class X felony charge of child sexual abuse materials, the indictment shows, alleging he solicited someone he should have known to be a minor “to appear in a video ... involving the lewd exhibition of the unclothed or transparently clothes buttocks.” Moreno-Martinez made his initial court appearance earlier this month before Judge Cynthia Lamb, who detained him in county jail pretrial, according to court records. In a detention order, Lamb referred to the probable cause statement prosecutors read during his initial appearance that alleges he “sexually abused a 16-year-old minor who he befriended on Snapchat.” Lamb said Moreno-Martinez learned the girl’s age “because of a public altercation that occurred” between them at a movie theater

HAMILTON COUNTY — A Hamilton County case involving a teenager and an adult who police say met through Snapchat is raising concerns about the dangers children face online. WATCH FULL STORY BELOW Growing concern surrounding online grooming following case in Hamilton County Investigators say the case came to light during a runaway investigation, when officers located a 15-year-old girl with 35-year-old Kristopher Novak, the man she allegedly met through the app. According to court documents, the interaction led to a criminal investigation and felony charges. Donna Schrader, a parent, said the situation reflects a challenge many families face. "They're exposed to so much social media that it's really hard to be a parent… to tell them to do the right things and stay off social media as much as possible," Schrader said. Sgt. Angela Ellison of the Fishers Police Department said online relationships can carry serious risks. "People online are not our friends… There are, unfortunately, people out there that want to do ill will toward that vulnerable population," Ellison said. A 22-year-old Toronto man is facing charges following a sexual assault investigation in Ajax earlier this month, Durham police say. Officers responded to a report on July 5, after a woman told police she had been sexually assaulted by a man she had previously connected with on Snapchat. The incident occurred in the area of Harwood Avenue South and Bayly Street East. Police say the suspect was later located and taken into custody without incident. Investigators believe there may be additional victims and released the Snapchat handle allegedly used by the suspect: “AJSWRLD22.” Austin Jeffrey Stremble, 22, of Toronto, is charged with sexual assault. He was released on an undertaking. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.

The move, which represents the adoption of a strategy already implemented on Meta’s platforms, is intended to help creators generate a steady and stable source of income directly from their audience, while strengthening user loyalty to the app. As part of the new service, paying subscribers will gain access to exclusive content in Snaps and Stories that is not available to all users. In addition, subscribers will enjoy priority in receiving responses from creators and viewing content without ad interruptions in those creators’ Stories. Snap clarified that the model grants creators "freedom to experiment" and enables them to build a more committed community over time. The platform grants creators full control over pricing, allowing them to set the monthly fee from a list of recommended price tiers. According to reports, creators are expected to retain about 60% of the revenue after deducting the app store commissions of Apple and Google, positioning Snap as a direct competitor in the content creator economy market. Pupils as young as 11 are being encouraged to join in school fights in posts on TikTok and Snapchat, prompting police to urge children not to get involved. The Metropolitan police have asked social media platforms to ban accounts promoting “school wars”, while headteachers have warned parents about the posts. St. Joseph County Jail ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 24-year-old man has been charged with Child Molesting after meeting the child over Snapchat. The 24-year-old, Landon Haggerty, was charged with three counts of Child Molesting Where Defendant is at Least 21 Years of Age as Level 1 Felonies. According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, the victim said that they had met Haggerty over Snapchat when they both disclosed their ages and continued having conversations there until they began a "relationship" that included sexual intercourse. Once officers began to pursue Haggerty, a friend of his noted that he'd sent a message stating "he wouldn't go back to jail, and he would die before he did." Haggerty was then found at the Quality Inn after his phone number was pinged nearby. Haggerty was brought into custody and charged. Haggerty's initial hearing has been set for Monday, Mar. 2.
