Dolly is accused of using the social media application Snapchat to share child sexual abuse materials, authorities said.(Canva for NJ.com) Authorities have charged a Cumberland County man with sharing child sexual abuse material online and animal cruelty. Acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office arrested Robert W. Dolly, 32, of Millville, on June 12. An attorney for Dolly did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday. Dolly is accused of using the social media application Snapchat to share the abuse materials, the prosecutor’s office said. He is charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and distributing child sexual abuse material; second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and possession of child sexual abuse material (more than 1,000 items) and fourth-degree animal cruelty (sexual contact with an animal). Dolly is also charged with third-degree hindering and fourth-degree counts of tampering and obstruction. He was ordered jailed while he awaits trial on the charges, according to court records. The data, including prescription drug names and dosages, was sent by web trackers on state exchanges set up under the Affordable Care Act to help Americans purchase health coverage. The exchange websites ask users to answer a series of questions, including about their health histories, to find them the most relevant information on plans. But in some cases, when visitors responded to sensitive questions, the invisible trackers sent that information to platforms like Google, LinkedIn, and Snapchat. A former police officer from West London has been jailed after pleading guilty to an online child sex offence. Barry Geering, from Ealing, admitted trying to have sexual communication with a person under 16 over Snapchat following his arrest in April 2024. The 44-year-old was snared as part of an operation by the Online Investigations Team at the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU), a force working with a national network to tackle sexual abuse and exploitation. In a Wednesday press release, Gogebic County Prosecutor Nick Jacobs announced that Asher John Carlisle, 24, has been arraigned in Gogebic County on the charges. According to the prosecutor, law enforcement had received information from reliable sources that Carlisle was involved with texting and using Snapchat to solicit minor children from outside the area, sharing nude pictures and videos in an effort to encourage sexual acts with the minors. Law enforcement said after learning about this, Carlisle’s probation agent seized three of Carlisle’s phones in April. Jacobs issued a separate search warrant to preserve and search his Snapchat account. The phones and Snapchat were then analyzed and investigated by the MSP Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Marquette in May. Police said the investigation of the phones revealed more than 4,000 nude images and chats with minors, which resulted in the 16 felony charges.
