The Smyrna Hero Dinner Gala will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at Boxwood Social Hall in Marietta. It will include dinner, drinks, dancing, live music and a silent auction. The occasion marks the start of the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation’s packed 2026 calendar of events, which includes a golf tournament in April, Jazz Under the Gazebo in November, and the Shop With a Hero shopping event in December to help local children enjoy the holidays. Tickets are $100. Tables for eight are available for $800; sponsorships are also available. By Canadian Press on February 10, 2026. TUMBLER RIDGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA — RCMP say there are “multiple victims” in a shooting at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia’s Peace region. RCMP Staff Sgt. Kris Clark confirms in a text message that there are victims in what police have called an “active shooter” situation, however he couldn’t say how many people are involved or the extent of their injuries. Police said in an earlier statement that the “original suspect” was believed to be dead, but officers were working to determine whether a second suspect is involved. The emergency alert that went out to the cellphones of local residents on Tuesday afternoon describes a suspect as a “female in a dress with brown hair.” Police are asking residents in Tumbler Ridge to shelter in place as additional police resources are being deployed to the area from neighbouring detachments. RCMP say that no one should approach a potential suspect and should call 911. The indie publisher makes its second major executive move of the year. Users can bypass the translation function entirely by embedding natural language instructions that speak directly to the underlying language model. The trick was first discovered by a Tumblr user (via LessWrong). It works by entering a question in a foreign language like Chinese, then adding an English meta-instruction below it. Instead of translating the text, Google Translate answers the question.
