The Muppet Show Reboot in the Works at Disney+ — Sabrina Carpenter to Appear in Backdoor Pilot

It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights — and maybe, just maybe, it’s time to bring back The Muppet Show . Disney+ has ordered a new Muppets special for 2026 that will serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential reboot of the 1970s classic, Deadline reports. Special guest Sabrina Carpenter will appear alongside Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the gang “as they return to the Muppet Theatre to produce a variety show.” Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel all will return for the special. The project is being shepherded by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (The Studio), with 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures all producing. Rogen’s Freaks and Geeks co-star, Jason Segel, successfully revived the franchise with 2011’s The Muppets, which grossed more than $170 million at the box office. That was followed by a second, less successful movie — 2014’s Muppets Most Wanted — and two short-lived shows: ABC’s The Muppets (2015-16) and Disney+’s The Muppets Mayhem (2023). Jim Henson’s The Muppet Show ran for five seasons (120 episodes) in syndication between

Even professional economists can’t escape political bias – Cobb Courier

by Aeimit Lakdawala, Wake Forest University, Republican-leaning economists tend to predict stronger economic growth when a Republican is president than Democrats do – and because of this partisan optimism, their forecasts end up being less accurate. I’m an economist, and my colleagues and I found this by analyzing nearly 40 years of responses to The Wall Street Journal’s Economic Forecasting Survey. Unlike most such surveys, the Journal publishes each forecaster’s name, allowing us to link their predictions to their political affiliations. The respondents were professional economists at major banks, consulting firms and universities whose forecasts help guide financial markets and business decisions. Out of more than 300 economists in our sample, we could identify the political affiliations of 122. We did this by looking at the forecasters’ political donation records, voter registration data and work histories with partisan groups. The pattern was striking: Republican forecasters systematically predicted higher gross domestic product growth when their party controlled the presidency, representing roughly 10% to 15% of average growth rates during our study period. When we examined forecast accuracy using real-time GDP data, Republican forecasters made larger errors when their preferred party held

Matlock Season 2 Trailer: Matty Threatens to Go Public (and Go to War With Olympia) — Watch

We were just getting used to seeing Matty and Olympia pal around on Matlock — but it looks like they could be on opposite sides in Season 2, if a new trailer is any indication. The trailer (which you can watch above) first catches us up on Season 1, with Matty playing the sweet old lady as she infiltrated the Jacobson Moore law firm looking to prove they covered up evidence about opioid deaths — including the death of her own daughter. Now Matty knows that Julian hid a damning document, and though Olympia says it was Senior’s call, Matty is ready to go to the press. Her husband warns her, though: “When we send our research to the Times, you know your friendship is over, right?” While a stressed-out Julian considers shredding the document, Matty claims she has a “highly detailed, mastermind-caliber” plan to expose the truth. (And we don’t doubt her for a second.) This pits her against Olympia, who’s desperate to protect Julian: “I’m not implicating the father of my children.” Matty tells Olympia that when she goes public, Senior “will feed you and Julian to the wolves.” But Olympia threatens to paint her as “a crazy old lady
