Twitch streamer Mizkif claimed in a recent stream that xQc was given rooms in seven hotels for TwitchCon Las Vegas and that he has access to butler and limo services as part of this deal, with the former calling this show of wealth “mind-boggling.” When it comes to streaming and content creation, many big names are gifted cars, properties and more. The streaming world is always changing and adjusting. Now that the world is coming out of the pandemic and most people are spending less time in their homes, it’s easy to see that some viewership and user numbers are down. Additionally, for platforms as large as Twitch, having a competition like Kick also means losing some of their strongest streamers, causing them to adjust their own policies to keep their content creators and attract new ones.Twitch changed its policies in favor of simulcastingThis past weekend, Twitch revealed the change on its social media, announcing that streamers can “simulcast on ANY live streaming service!”Previously, Twitch had a very strong policy against streaming on multiple platforms at the same time, especially if there was already some sort of agreement between the content creator and the platform. However, in order to “ensure that the Twitch user experience is not compromised,” there are a number of guidelines that must be followed to keep the party even with the streaming platform.The simulcast rules include ensuring the quality of the user experience on Twitch, i.e. that Twitch is no lower in quality than streams on other platforms. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy appeared on the latest live stream of AustinShow, handing out prizes to contestants that included a coupon for a 70/30 subscriber revenue split on the streaming platform. Back in September 2022, Dexerto reported at length about how Twitch content creators wished to increase the revenue split on the site so that they were given 70% of the earnings from subscribers, a bump up from the 50/50 split. In June, Twitch finally delivered on the 70/30 split, but it came with a catch. Streamers needed at least 350 recurring paid subscribers, and it would only be paid out up to $100,000. The new system was quickly again in August after Twitch faced backlash over the strict requirements.Article continues after ad And now, 70/30 coupons are being handed out as prizes as the Twitch CEO appeared as a guest on AustinShow’s livestream with surprises in hand. After handing out a couple of dollars, Clancy then stated that he’s “got something a little better” in his pocket. As it loses talent, Twitch is opening up simulcasting for YouTube, Kick, and more platforms. Over the past few months, Twitch has been losing some of its biggest talent to other streaming platforms, most notably Kick. With streamers like xQc leaving Twitch behind, the streaming giant is making some big changes to how it handles simulcasting. Users can now simulcast with any streaming service, making it easier for streamers to build an audience across platforms. Previously, streamers' options were a bit more limited, but this change means streamers can use any service, including Kick and YouTube. Of course, Twitch isn't saying that the change is directly related to losing big-name streamers, but it's hard not to see this as something of a response. Twitch’s latest announcement at TwitchCon in Las Vegas has the industry buzzing, or rather, twitching. The live-streaming giant will now allowing its users to stream their content on other platforms concurrently. While the company previously loosened its guidelines on cross-streaming to social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, this is a significant change that opens doors for streaming across “any service,” unless the streamer is bound by an exclusivity contract with Twitch. This seems like a move to retain its massive streamer base On the surface, this move appears counterintuitive for Twitch. One would think that by allowing users to stream elsewhere, Twitch is essentially eroding its own viewer base. So why make such a drastic change? It’s likely a calculated risk to retain top talent in the live-streaming space. In recent times, some big names such as Ludwig have ditched Twitch for competitor platforms like YouTube. By allowing creators more freedom to simulcast without strings, Twitch could be offering an olive branch, especially to mid-level creators who might be contemplating making a switch due to revenue concerns. Previously, streamers could simulcast on mobile platforms like TikTok and Instagram, but as of Friday, Twitch is significantly broadening where streamers can simultaneously go live. (Well, assuming the streamers don’t have a Twitch exclusivity agreement in place.)As of late, some Twitch streamers have been exploring options on other platforms. Big names like xQc, Amouranth, and Nickmercs have signed major deals with Twitch competitor Kick this year; xQc’s and Nickmercs’ deals are non-exclusive, and given that Amouranth has a video on her Twitch account from a couple months ago, it seems hers is non-exclusive, too.
