After Twitch found itself at the epicenter of a gambling scandal, the streaming giant has since doubled down on its prohibition of gambling anywhere on its platform, but the decision could be too little, too late. Despite other companies taking more of a hard line stance against gambling to protect their users, Twitch has allowed a gray area to take hold on with a history of gambling scandals from streamers getting sponsored by online casinos to the obscure legality over crypto usage. As a result, while competitors like YouTube cracked down on such content, Twitch remained a haven for it. But with Twitch's gambling ban now in effect, the platform's delayed response to the issue at large has meant that a sizable community has developed and grown in this gray area. So not only has the damage already been done to Twitch's users that have allowed them to develop gambling addictions over time, but this inaction has resulted in echo chambers forming around gambling communities that will only make it harder for them to break these addictions. Twitch's ban can't break these communities up, and instead will push them to a new platform where the cycle will just repeat. Twitch

Singer and Twitch streamer Raquel Lily got herself into a little bit of hot water recently during a live stream. She normally streams her music, but decided to do something called hot tub streaming. That’s, as it sounds, where the streamer live streams from a hot tub. That alone isn’t against the rules and won’t get a streamer banned. Twitch even has a category for such content. That’s what Raquel did earlier this week and she received a three-day ban for doing so. The stunt, she called “cake on cake time” was rules to be “sexually suggestive conduct” by the streaming platform. In the video she sings happy birthday to a follower and smashes a cupcake in her bikini. Raquel admitted after being banned that she intended to use the hot tub stream as promotion for her new single. A song called “u up?” The song, she explained, is about an “e girl” Even though she says Twitch didn’t get her joke, she plans to return to the streaming platform after the three-day…

Not only has cryptocurrency dominated investment trends since its inception, but the movement is also bleeding into other avenues — from hackers to Twitch streamers. With an avid fanbase the likes of fantasy football, crypto gambling has been a recently popular genre for Twitch streamers to keep audiences at the edge of their seats. Whether or not the bits and subscription funds from viewers go into the potentially toxic hobby is another story as Twitch edits its terms to ban these activities from streams. Microsoft has been investing heavily in Xbox subscription services, but even with several promotions, the Redmond giant has failed to meet Game Pass subscriber targets for the second year in a row. This week, the company teamed up with Twitch, the world’s largest game streaming platform, to grant a three-month Game Pass subscription to those who purchase subs (subscriptions) on Twitch. From November 3rd to November 11th, those who have never subscribed to PC Game Pass will be able to claim an exclusive promotion on Twitch. For that, you need to buy or gift a friend with two subs on the platform, which will make you receive a code in the Twitch notifications tab to redeem the offer on the Xbox website. In Europe, each subscription costs BRL 7.90, which means you need to invest around BRL 15.00 to gain access to the offer. Considering that a monthly PC Game Pass subscription costs R$ 29.99, this is certainly a very attractive value. At TwitchCon 2022, Chechik jumped into the foam pit that Lenovo set up, leading to her injuring her spine in multiple places. While filled with foam blocks, the pit was too shallow and nothing was covering the concrete beneath, causing many attendees to get injured. Chechik was by far the worse case, however. After the shocking TwitchCon incident, Chechik started to share her journey. After her first surgeries, Chechik was barely able to walk. Three weeks ago after jumping into a foam pit at TwitchCon San Diego, popular streamer Adriana Chechik broke her back in two places in a viral Twitch clip that can only be described as horrifying. The injury led to multiple surgeries and hours of physical therapy, and during an Oct. 30 broadcast, Adriana shared even more heart-wrenching details about her ordeal. Two hours into her first Twitch stream since the incident, after being asked why she has to take anxiety medication, Adriana explained she has trouble taking deep breaths due to her injury and one other devastating detail: the 30-year-old was pregnant when she broke her back at TwitchCon.
