ICYMI, Black women gamers are winning in the world of online streaming. Digital creator Katie “PikaChulita” Robinson and UK streamer  Danielle “Ebonix'' Udogaranya are proof of that, breaking barriers and finding success in an industry initially built to keep them out. In 2020, Udogaranya, the co-founder of Black Twitch UK, became the first Black woman in the UK to be a Twitch partner. And this year, Robinson was one of four honored in Doritos’ Solid Black Changemakers Initiative, which provides resources and a platform for Black changemakers using innovation to give back to their communities. She shared $200,000 with her fellow honorees and received $25,000 to donate to the charity of her choice, CodeCrew, a win that culminated in attending the BET Awards in June.All of these flowers are in defiance of the barriers Black women face online. This week, Cinderstone Online entered its new closed beta, and the cute stylized MMORPG continues getting updates and new features to test out. The team will be doing a live presentation on Twitch today showing off the closed beta and how things are going in development. Cinderstone Online is described on its homepage as “a cute and colorful MMORPG” so you can expect that from the intro, but the developers want to make sure to include mechanics like adventuring, conquest, and, of course social features like guilds and trade. The gods want their stolen lands back and you get to protect the world.  There is a Founder's Pack which will give you access to the closed beta where the game's features are being tested and continuous updates are coming. By Emily Maskell Tik Tok (Image: Pexels) Russia has reportedly fined TikTok for failing to remove content that violated Russia’s anti-LGBTQ ‘gay propaganda’ laws as well as the streaming service Twitch for an interview with a Ukrainian political figure. Moscow’s Tagansky District Court fined TikTok 3 million roubles (roughly £44,800) on Tuesday (4 October), according to Reuters. The fine was based on the charges that TikTok promoted “non-traditional sexual values, videos featuring LGBT, feminism, and distorted representation of traditional sexual values,” according to the Russian news agency Interfax. Reports also state that a TikTok representative at the court hearings had insisted the proceedings be closed and terminated.  The Russian law has been in place since 2013 and bans the ‘promotion’ of homosexual relationships with children but there have been recent developments that suggest this law (officially the Purpose of Protecting Children from Information Advocating for a Denial of Traditional Family Values act) would be expanded to include adults. The launch of Overwatch 2 today has had no shortage of issues with long queue times and swathes of players reporting being disconnected numerous times, but that isn’t preventing them from seeking the game out in other ways. With so many people having trouble getting in themselves, Overwatch 2 has posted massive viewership numbers, peaking at more than half a million concurrent viewers. The OW2 beta helped the game’s Twitch category hit a peak of 1.46 million concurrent viewers on April 27. As one might expect, the creator with the most viewers has been former Overwatch League pro xQc, who has steadily maintained more than 100,000 viewers in the category at the time of writing. A Russian court on Tuesday fined TikTok for failing to delete LGBT material, the country's latest crackdown on Big Tech companies.The Tagansky District Court in Moscow issued the 3 million rouble (€51,000) penalty to the short-video sharing platform following a complaint by Russian regulators.TikTok, which is owned by China’s ByteDance, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.According to the case file, state communications regulator Roskomnadzor complained about a video published on the platform earlier this year that breaches Russian laws against promoting "LGBT, radical feminism and a distorted view on traditional sexual relations”.The Russian government has been stepping up efforts to enforce greater control over the internet and social media, issuing penalties over content, demands over data storage and some outright bans. The popular YouTube content creator Dream has finally revealed his face, drawing an audience of over 1.5 million viewers to the video’s premiere on October 2. Dream has been a presence on the social media platform since 2014, primarily due to his Minecraft videos and streams. In that time, he has grown a community of over 30 million subscribers.
