The League of Legends community gears up for screaming, cheering and crying. And not just from their ranked games at home. LEC is coming back this year to prepare itself for the summer split.This influential European tournament kicks off its 4th year since its title rebranding. The league will see 10 teams compete against each other not only for the LEC title but also for the World Championship spot which is achieved by placing in the top three of the ten teams.Questions about in-person events are circulating, but there has been no information about whether this will be the case. | Less than a week ago, we learned that FOX's So You Think You Can Dance judge Matthew Morrison (Glee, AHS 1984) had departed the dance competition series over a failure to (as he wrote in a statement, see below) "follow competition production protocols, " PEOPLE is reporting from a source close to the FOX series that Morrison was fired "after he had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant." Though representatives for Morrison and FOX hadn't responded to requests for comment as of this writing, the source told PEOPLE, "They didn't have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media. She felt uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers, who then got FOX involved. He was fired after they did their own investigation." Though the two "never met up off-set," the source added, "it was just messages that crossed the line." “To me, accessible gaming, and accessible content in general, means that everybody should have the same experience no matter their situation.” These words come from Sean McIntyre, whose career in entertainment has included helping to produce live events such as the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and serving as a producer on G4’s Attack of the Show. He’s now the accessibility lead for Xbox Marketing and distribution lead for programming and events. “They should be able to take away what the person next to them does regardless of vision, hearing or language,” McIntyre tells The Hollywood Reporter over email. Toward one of these goals, Xbox recently partnered with Sorenson, a communications company with an expansive sign language interpreter base, to launch a dedicated channel on Twitch featuring American Sign Language interpretations, strategies and tips to help the community of Deaf and hard-of-hearing gamers actively participate in streams. Western tech companies may be leaving Russia in droves, but the Russian government isn't letting them go without attempting to extract some cash in the form of fines.As Reuters reports(Opens in a new window), Russia's communications regulator Roskomnadzor has opened cases against Apple, Airbnb, Google, Likeme, Pinterest, Twitch, and UPS for failures to comply with Russian legislation. Google was fined $46,000 last year for storing personal data outside of Russian territory, now it could face a further fine of between $90,000 and $270,000.The same looks likely for the other companies mentioned above. In all cases, it seems Roskomnadzor isn't happy with the way in which personal data was stored and/or the location of its storage, but the action may also relate to content and censorship within Russia. However, unlike Google, Apple, Airbnb, Likeme, Pinterest, Twitch, and UPS will have their fines limited to up to $90,000 because they are first offenders.If Google is found guilty of another breach, paying the fine could prove difficult. FARMINGTON — More than 50 dogs competed in the 2022 renewal of wiener dog races, one of the more popular events of Riverfest activities on Saturday at Berg Park in Farmington.Turnout for the races resulted in packed bleachers and standing room only crowds around the fenced in course at the park's River Reach Terrace, where a total of 57 dogs competed in five trial races, with the winners of those races then meeting for the championship.Twitch, owned by Farmington's Joshua Mike, was the overall winner, winning the second trial heat of the day, then running past his competition in the finals to claim the award as fastest wiener dog of the day.More: Riverfest website launched in anticipation of festival's return on Memorial Day weekendEvent coordinator Marsha Rutledge was pleased with the turnout of spectators as well as the record number of entrants for the competition."We had 57 entrants this year, which is just amazing," Rutledge said. When Twitch first came onto the scene, it was a split off of the “gaming” category of the livestreaming site Justin.tv. Though the site’s beardiest necks still vehemently argue that the site should be used exclusively for video game streaming, those days are long gone. Twitch is now home to streams of all kinds, though the vast majority of the platform remains made up of video game livestreams, whether it’s of a competitive esports pro grinding the Valorant ladder or a casual gamer tending to their Stardew Valley farm. The userbase of Twitch is as expansive and diverse as the community of gaming in general, and we’re a long way from the days of “video games are for kids.” However, that’s not to say that Twitch doesn’t have a huge segment of young viewers. Twitch's reported average user age as 21, with 20% of users being between 13-17 years of age. This data, however, also relies on users’ self-reported age, which is far from reliable. Brooke Ashley Bond, better known by her Twitch handle BrookAB, shared a shocking private message from a stalker after getting criticized for not attending TwitchCon.  BrookAB informed her fans on May 27 that she would not be attending TwitchCon, which is taking place in July. She explained that she just doesn't feel safe due to her "stalkers and constant death threats."  Many fans came forward to support BrookAB and her tough decision, saying that she doesn't need to apologize for wanting to feel safe. Others questioned why she was getting death threats, which prompted some to reply that it was simply for "being a female streamer." While most people expressed understanding over BrookAB's dilemma, some accused BrookAB of being dramatic. Streamers are requesting for Twitch to copy a popular YouTube feature that allows creators to tweak the cost of their paid subscriptions and set their own price.  As Twitch continues to make changes that deter their creators, the battle of the live streaming platforms continues, as more and more streamers sign exclusive deals and make their way over to YouTube Gaming. With YouTube slowly adding additions to their live streaming services, creators are only becoming more enticed to jump ship. However, that doesn’t stop others from hoping Twitch may take a page out of their competitor’s book.
