QAnon supports reportedly found a new place to go.  Getty Images Twitch, Amazon's video game streaming platform, has had its share of streamers who created content too sexualized or too toxic for the company's terms and services. But now there appears to be a new batch of creators thriving on the platform after being banned from other social media networks for sharing QAnon and COVID-denying conspiracy theories.More than 20 channels streaming far-right ideas and conspiracy theories are on Twitch, according to a report from The New York Times Tuesday. Some of the streamers are faithful to former President Donald Trump and are spreading the false narrative that he won the 2020 presidential election. Others include QAnon supporters who spread the misinformation that the Democratic party and Hollywood elite are part of a cabal of pedophile Satan worshippers, the report said. The reason for the ban was never made clear—Twitch said only that the channel was closed "due to terms of service violations"—but it was widely assumed to be related to allegations that he was also the owner of the CS:GO skin gambling site CSGOShuffle, which he heavily promoted on his channel.In 2018, Varga fired back with a lawsuit against Twitch, claiming that it suspended his channel and terminated his contract without providing a required explanation as to why. The suit alleged that Varga was never given written notice of violations and opportunities to correct them as required by the contract, and that his suspension arose from "unsubstantiated, false accusations leveled at Varga by a third party, whose accusations were the culmination of an effort to publicly disparage Varga and take advantage of his popularity." According to the suit, Varga wasn't informed of the reason for his suspension until January 2017, when a Twitch employee told him it was due to fraudulent subscribers to his channel. HERKIMER – Herkimer College’s Esports team is quietly making quite a run in the school's first season of intercollegiate NJCAA competition.The team of freshmen Christian Mandia and Jayden Vargas has advanced to the semifinals of the national Call of Duty: Modern Warfare invitational tournament. Mandia, a Whitesboro High School graduate from Utica, and Vargas from the Bronx Academy of Software Engineering are a perfect 7-0 this season following last week’s 4-3 quarterfinal victory over a team from Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan.Mandia and Vargas, seeded fourth entering the tournament, play again Monday evening against the top seeds from the University of South Carolina-Sumter.The semifinal starts at 6 p.m. and can be viewed on Herkimer’s Twitch channel at twitch.tv/herkimer_generals_esports.The semifinal winner will play for the national championship later in the evening against the winner of the other semifinal between Central Wyoming College and California’s Irvine Valley College.Herkimer’s Generals are coached by Frank Drapalski, a systems programmer/analyst, and Joshua Lanza, a technical assistant for the Academic Support Center.This is the second year that Esports has been contested by the NJCAA. The year may be 2021, but some people are still living like it’s 2008, as Twitch icon Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys was hilariously Rickrolled during an April 24 stream. Rickrolling is one of the most famous internet pranks of all time and despite being over ten years old, it remains amusingly culturally relevant to this day, though perhaps in a bit of an ironic way. As such, whenever someone is Rickrolled in this day and age, it’s a bit of a groaner, but for Twitch star Pokimane, the meme prank was enough to make her tear up. During her Saturday broadcast, the streamer was playing Valorant when a viewer asked her to check out a TikTok about self-defense. Now, a new study of 8,000 people has, for the first time, found a “clear link” between the frequency and duration of these unconscious episodes and an increased risk of dying from any cause and of heart disease, especially in women. Compared to women without sleep issues, women who experience unconscious wakefulness during the night had nearly double the risk of dying from heart disease in the six to 11 years of the study’s follow-up period. Men, on the other hand, faced a risk of death from cardiovascular illness that was just more than a quarter compared to men with no sleep disruptions. Despite being known as one of the most friendly streamers on Twitch, Thomas "Sykkuno" only recently started sharing his smile. So who is Sykkuno and why is he becoming such a popular streamer? James “PhantomL0rd” Varga has reportedly won his lawsuit against Twitch, which began more than two years ago in San Francisco.
