Speedruns: How They Defined A Generation – MKAU Gaming

Speedrunning, or blitzing through a game as fast as you possibly can, is something that began in arcade games during the 1980s. Players wanted to see how quickly they could complete the game, almost adding it as a new mechanic to enjoy. Originally, a lot of speedruns relied on glitches. They depended on developers making mistakes in games to allow faster progression. However, by the 2000s and 2010s speedruns had become a communal activity with people watching on platforms like Twitch. For many it was a curiosity to see how quickly their favorite games could be completed. Many were surprised to discover that games that had taken them 50 or 100 hours to play through could be done in just one or two.  Roots in the arcades As mentioned, speedrunning had its roots in the arcades. Many players tried to run through games like Super Mario Brothers and Pac-Man as quickly as they could. What was interesting was that many of them found glitches in the underlined. For example, Pac-Man had a kill screen at level 256 that a lot of players looked for ways to get around.  Interestingly, some game developers supported these speed run tactics. Many nudged people

Can Twitch Star Kai Cenat Inspire Black Kids to Start Reading?

Overview: Twitch star Kai Cenat started his reading journey so he could articulate himself better. Experts say this is a great way to model reading for students, namely those who struggle with literacy. For the past few years, Kai Cenat has been one of the biggest names on the internet, a  Twitch streamer who has evolved from playing video games online into creating outlandish comedy that often goes viral. With more than 20 million followers, Cenat, 24, has rubbed shoulders with fellow internet star Druski, NBA star Lebron James and rapper Nicki Minaj.  But lately, experts say, his most important audience might be Black schoolchildren struggling to read. That’s because Cenat has traded his gaming console for actual books Recently, the gamer-turned-content creator-turned-fashion designer set a goal for himself: read, out loud, every day, from 10 minutes to an hour, on camera. He often stops to look up words he struggles to pronounce or doesn’t quite understand. Cenat then uploads the video to one of his smaller channels for everyone to see.  Why Did Kai Cenat Start His Reading Journey? “Honestly, the reason why I started reading was because I didn’t like the way I spoke,” Cenat, 24, said in

Texas Content Creator Accidentally Exposes Illegal Adult Content in His Computer, Gets …

Twitch and Kick streamer Lacari, from Texas, has become a prominent figure in the streaming and content creator community, especially known for his gacha gameplay and his “degenerate” online persona. Well, turns out that “persona” wasn’t a mask after all, because Lacari basically exposed himself by accidentally opening a collection of links to illegal adult content, and in front of a rather large online audience. During a late-January stream, Lacari was chatting with his viewers and pulled up a notepad as part of the discussion. However, the notepad actually contains links to folders and sites that Lacari visits, and some of the keywords in this collection include “teen” and “JBT video,” with JBT supposedly an abbreviation for “jailbait teen.” Lacari quickly closed the notepad in panic and even made up an excuse — the good old “computer virus.” Of course, viewers didn’t buy it, and Lacari ended up reviewing the penal code in Texas, where adult content like lolicon or anything depicting minor-aged characters (or characters with a minor-like appearance) is punishable by law. In the end, Lacari decided to delete the “contents” of his hard drive. Still, it appears the Twitch streamer was quickly reported; his moderators even abandoned

Cece, a Twitch Streamer who was previously popular for her aggressive Marvel Rivals gameplay, is now being harshly treated on the internet. Why? Riot can’t handle FGC’s salt levels, issues statement regarding 2XKO sponsorship on Twitch

There's more to the 2XKO Starter Bundle Ultra than just Arcane skins. Image credit: Riot Games | Last Updated On: Jan 23, 2026 6:37 am CET Twitch recently angered the FGC when it came to light that streamers were being harassed into taking a 2XKO sponsorship that wasn’t very lucrative at all. The backlash got so bad that Riot was caught in the crosshairs, causing its Global Head of Player Community to respond on X. On January 20th, streamers came forward with receipts showing Twitch constantly pushing a 2XKO sponsorship opportunity. While that wouldn’t be so bad on its own (although, dang, stop acting as desperate as an American politician in the inboxes), streamers shared the questionable details of the campaign soon after, cementing it as an insult to the FGC. Streamers would only get paid for having the 2XKO banner plastered all over their stream if someone donated five gifted subs to them. And once players did somehow manage to get the payment, they realized it was just Twitch gifting one sub back to them. Streamers also pointed out that the bonus gifted sub earnings are paid at the platform’s usual rates, meaning Twitch could take up to 50%
