James Domen (right) and Vice President Mike Pence — Photo: JimDomen.com A pastor who claims to have successfully changed his sexual orientation through conversion therapy can’t sue Vimeo for banning his account and removing videos he made extolling the virtues of the therapy, a federal court has ruled. A three-judge panel on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that Vimeo is immune under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a 1996 Internet law dealing with private blocking and screening of potentially offensive material. As a result, the company cannot be sued for removing videos that violated its policies regarding what type of content can be shared on the platform. Pastor James Domen, of the California-based Church United, argued that Vimeo had discriminated against him on the basis of sexual orientation when it removed five videos in which he calls himself a “former homosexual.” He sued, only to have his lawsuit dismissed by a federal court. He subsequently appealed the ruling. The 2nd Circuit found that the lower court had ruled correctly in dismissing the lawsuit. Suzan DelBene, a Democrat from Washington state who previously worked for Microsoft, appears to be garnering support from business groups.DelBene's “Information Transparency and Personal Data Control Act” would require companies to obtain consumers' opt-in consent before sharing or selling “sensitive” data, and allow consumers to opt out of the collection and sharing or selling of non-sensitive data.The bill's definition of “sensitive” includes people's web browsing history and app use, unless the data is aggregated. But the requirement that companies obtain opt-in consent before sharing or selling that data has some loopholes -- including one that applies when companies disclose how they plan to use the information.The bill would override many state privacy laws, including broad measures in California and Virginia. Boulder Police detectives are releasing a third batch of photos and videos of individuals they are trying to identify in connection with the University Hill riot this past Saturday, March 6. There is a team of 15 detectives and investigators from the Boulder Police Department, CU Boulder Police and the District Attorney’s Office are following up on more than 800 tips that have come in since Sunday, March 7. Detectives have made one arrest, are continuing their investigation into at least 10 other identified individuals who were involved in riot-related crimes and anticipate additional arrests in the coming days. It is one of northern Scotland’s most iconic archaeological monuments that provides a unique insight into the nation’s Iron Age past having emerged after a 14 year series of community excavations. Some 2,000 years ago, a Highland broch burned down but in the process sealed remarkable evidence of its final occupation inside. The Clachtoll Broch amidst the remote community of Assynt has been transformed from a neglected ruin to a fascinating window into life in the area at around 50AD. Now it has been named Rescue Project of the Year in the prestigious UK-wide Current Archaeology Magazine Annual Awards. Projects are nominated for awards by magazine staff, which are then decided by a public vote. Archaeologists investigating the remains of the Iron Age drystone hollow-walled structure say they have found evidence to support the theory that the building caught fire and collapsed about 2,000 years ago. Its interior has been effectively untouched ever since, but, with the sea encroaching, the ruin has been becoming increasingly fragile and dangerous to visitors. So Historic Assynt, a local community organisation organised a project to conserve and consolidate the monument. Firing tear gas and rubber bullets, Myanmar security forces trapped hundreds of anti-junta protesters late into the night in two districts of Yangon on Wednesday, prompting the U.S. Embassy to call for the forces to withdraw. One of the two gardens featured in tour number 3 of Cotswold Gardens on Tour The owners of two stunning private gardens in Cirencester have allowed them to be filmed to raise funds for Cirencester charity The Churn Project. A virtual tour of each garden, given by its owners, was filmed this summer by local multimedia company Cotswold TV. The third film in the Cotswold Gardens on Tour series is now available to view. The first part of the film sees owners Jim and Deirdre Waddell guide viewers through their much-loved garden on one of the town's oldest streets. Following Jim’s death in early 2021 a moving tribute to him starts the film. Gardening was his great love and he and Deirdre took enormous pleasure in restoring their garden over the past five years. The second tour of these very special Cirencester gardens takes us behind the gates of one of the town’s beautiful old villas and into a tranquil walled garden full of colour and charm.
