After a long period of testing the feature, Facebook seems to have removed dark mode support on Android and iOS through the latest app updates. Facebook’s dark mode option appears to have disappeared from the Android and iPhone apps, and it currently remains unclear why or how many users are affected. The option to enable a darker theme has become increasingly popular with users and app developers, with Apple and iOS also adding their own system-wide dark theme support as well. In recent years, the number of apps that now support dark mode has been steadily increasing. However, there are still a number of popular apps that have yet to adopt the feature or make it available on both platforms. For example, although Snapchat dark mode can be enabled on an iPhone, it has yet to arrive on Android. Estée Lauder Companies is leaning on Snapchat’s new social AR shopping capabilities.On May 20, MAC became the first brand in the ELC portfolio to debut a shoppable Snapchat AR try-on lens. Using technology developed through Snapchat’s partnership with Perfect Corp., MAC is offering four different lenses that present a total of 20 lip and eye products. Users can scroll through and test the different shades of each product and then click the link in the lens to purchase on MAC’s DTC site. Efforts including a curriculum audit, staff training, and a proposed antiracist TCAPS board resolution drew criticism from some parents who said the work amounted to indoctrination and an attempt to force critical race theory into the classroom, while several TCAPS staff members defended the process as crucial to providing a school environment where all students feel welcome and safe. The Social Equity Task Force – an internal TCAPS group including students, teachers, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders formed in November to address equity, diversity, and inclusivity issues – provided an update to board members. According to committee members, current focus areas include auditing the district’s K-12 curriculum “through an equity lens,” diversifying TCAPS libraries, expanding learning opportunities for staff, providing support “to lift student voices” in the district’s inclusivity work, and passing a board resolution detailing TCAPS’ commitment to being an antiracist, anti-discriminatory school district.
