An Indian-origin man in the US has been arrested and charged with cyberstalking a woman, whom he harassed using several social media accounts and emails and solicited others to rape, murder and decapitate her in exchange for Bitcoin. Desmond Babloo Singh, 19, of New York has been indicted on federal charges of cyberstalking, causing intentional damage to a protected computer, aggravated identity theft, e-mailing a hoax bomb threat, and murder for hire, United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Robert K Hur said on Tuesday. According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, in February 2020, Singh sent the victim an Instagram story in which he professed his love for her. The woman, a former classmate of Singh's older sister, rejected Singh's romantic advances and told him that she was not interested in a relationship with him. The woman, who resides in Maryland, asked Singh to not contact her any further. The affidavit said that from approximately April to November 2020, Singh allegedly used more than 100 different social media, electronic communication, and phone accounts to send the woman harassing and unsolicited messages. Snapchat has come under fire after its end-of-year review congratulated users on their gardening skills after picking up on photos of flowers at family funerals. Like all social media companies, Snapchat uses algorithms to analyse and categorize pictures. Unfortunately for the people affected, it couldn’t differentiate between flowers placed by a grave and those planted in a garden. The error was highlighted in Twitter user @leahclarkxx’s post where the photo Snapchat used for ‘a year of flexing green thumbs’ was of her Nana’s burial. Responses to the tweet and others posted separately revealed this wasn’t an isolated incident, either. COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department is warning residents in Colorado Springs and Peyton of an identity theft scam in the area.The department said this "card cracking" scam is a type of identity theft and check fraud involving "the recruitment of people using social media sites, particularly Snapchat."Police said they were notified of the scam after victims responded to a Snapchat post offering quick cash. The victims were then told it was a legal process and that they need to meet with a suspect in a hotel parking lot who will then take the victim to an ATM to deposit a forged check or have the victim open their banking app to make a mobile depost."Once the check is deposited, the victim then withdrawals half of the check’s value to keep for themselves, giving the other half to the suspect. The suspect then drops the victim back off at their vehicle. Soon after, the victim is notified by their bank that the check was forged, and that the victim owes the money back to the bank," the release stated.The department said in most of these cases, the suspect is described as a black man who is between 20…

Snapchat has released a detailed listing of attitudes that its userbase has maintained in the face of upcoming holidays and a new year!
