Snapchat contact with Sweet Home teen leads to arrest of Wilsonville man – KMTR

by News Staff Tue, June 9, 2026 at 3:27 PM Christopher Webb (Photo via Linn County Sheriff's Office) ALBANY, Ore. — Linn County deputies arrested a Wilsonville man in late May after a sex abuse investigation, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. Deputies arrested Christopher Jay Webb, 34, on May 28, 2026, after an eight-month long investigation, the sheriff's office said. According to authorities, Webb used the Snapchat app to contact a 17-year-old girl from Sweet Home who was unknown to him. Knowing her age, he sent multiple images and videos of sexually explicit content of himself to the girl, the sheriff's office said. He also solicited similar content from her. During the investigation, investigators determined Webb used Snapchat to communicate with other juveniles for similar purposes. In conversations with the juveniles, Webb indicated that he worked at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. After executing search warrants for digital evidence and analyzing accounts and digital media, Webb was arrested and lodged at the Linn County Jail on one count of luring a minor. The investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional charges, police said. The sheriff's office believes there are other victims who have yet to be identified. Webb’s

GOVERNORS BALL 2026: DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS – Highway 81 Revisited

Day 2 of Governors Ball was cut short by a severe storm that walloped New York City, and no doubt many festival-goers were disappointed that headliner Kali Uchis’ set was cancelled, but there was a wide range of performances on Saturday to thrill the mostly youthful crowd. Chanpan, difficult to define and harder to resist, opened the Snapchat stage with a set that ranged from club pop to Latin to soul. Fronted by Grace Dumdaw, who owned the stage in a black thong, football shoulder pads and a T-shirt that read “Chan Pan Sexual, the Asian-American group, which includes the twins Lance and Matthew Tran, seemed to embody the pancultural makeup — and attitude — of the diverse crowd. One of the Trans (sorry — they switch instruments and are identical) mentioned that they visited the Delaney detention center in New Jersey earlier in the week and said the people held there “should be with us” at Gov Ball. “Fuck ICE” and “Free Palestine” chants ensued. Dumdaw introduced “Jungle,” the first song the group released. It featured a slinky bassline, skittering drums and wispy vocals and keyboards. Flowerovlove, the British singer Joyce Cissé, was next on the Snapchat, with polished, confident

How to Recover a Deleted Snapchat Account (2026) – Technobezz

You went into your Snapchat settings, tapped through the delete confirmation, and now the app won't let you back in the way it used to. Maybe you regret it, maybe a friend asked where your account went, or maybe you just realized your Memories and saved snaps are tied to that login. The good news is that a self-deleted Snapchat account is not gone the instant you confirm it. The hard part is that the clock is already running, and only you can bring it back. Here is exactly what is happening behind the scenes, the only official way to recover the account, and the honest truth about when it can and cannot be saved. What deleting actually did to your account When you delete a Snapchat account, it does not vanish immediately. Per Snapchat Support, the action "will deactivate an account for 30 days, during which time the account can still be reactivated. After 30 more days, the account will be permanently deleted." In other words, you are not in a deleted state yet. You are in a 30-day deactivation window, and that window is the only time recovery is possible. This matters because it changes the whole approach.

How Big Tech Broke Into the Classroom – Kashmir Observer

Schools became a front line in tech’s attention economy. Joanna Houston knew her son spent time on YouTube at school, but the scale simply surprised her. School records showed that her sixth-grade son in Richmond Hill, Georgia, watched more than 1,500 noneducational YouTube videos on his Chromebook between August and January.  Much of that viewing took place during school hours, turning a device intended for learning into a portal for entertainment. Houston’s discovery shows a growing concern inside American schools. Teachers, parents and administrators increasingly describe classrooms as battlegrounds where lessons compete with notifications, videos and social media feeds designed to capture attention. Newly disclosed internal documents, reviewed by The New York Times through lawsuits filed by more than 1,400 school districts, provide an unusually detailed look at how major technology companies pursued young users during the school day.  The records show social media platforms reaching students in classrooms while educators, parents and company safety teams voiced concerns about academic disruption. Snapchat sent prompts encouraging teenagers to post updates during school hours. Meta recruited high school students to promote Instagram among their peers. TikTok weighed proposals that would limit notifications during class time and ultimately moved in another direction. Google
