Supreme Court allows Mississippi to require age verification on social media such as …

This combination of photos from 2017 to 2022 shows the logos of Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat on mobile devices. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday refused for now to block enforcement of a Mississippi law aimed at regulating the use of social media by children, an issue of growing national concern. The justices rejected an emergency appeal from a tech industry group representing major platforms like Facebook, X and YouTube. NetChoice is challenging laws passed in Mississippi and other states that require social media users to verify their ages, and asked the court to keep the measure on hold while a lawsuit plays out. There were no noted dissents from the brief, unsigned order. Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote that there’s a good chance NetChoice will eventually succeed in showing that the law is unconstitutional, but hadn’t shown it must be blocked while the lawsuit unfolds. NetChoice argues that the Mississippi law threatens privacy rights and unconstitutionally restricts the free expression of users of all ages. A federal judge agreed and prevented the 2024 law from taking effect. But a three-judge panel of the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in July that the law could be enforced

What’s going on with the new Instagram map and how to keep it turned it off

What Instagram touted as a fun new feature to connect further with your friends is devolving into a dialogue about privacy concerns and hurting the app’s already fragile street cred. Last week, Instagram launched its map — a long-in-the-works location-based page where friends can see each other’s exact whereabouts. On its face, the service isn’t very different from Snapchat’s map, which has been around for nearly a decade. But the conversation about the Instagram map went downhill fast, with experts weighing in about privacy and safety risks. Here’s what we know about the Instagram Map, including how to turn the feature off, and what security experts say about it. What is the Instagram Map? As part of a suite of new Instagram updates, the social media platform launched a new interactive map last Wednesday. It allows users to see where they and their friends are based on location data. In a news release, Meta called it “a new, lightweight way to connect with each other.” It’s available nationwide in the United States with global availability coming soon. The map can populate for all users, regardless of location sharing, based on locations collected from Instagram stories, posts, and Reels with location

Fulham warned bizarre Snapchat ban could lead to relegation – ‘That’s the reason’

Credit: Imago Mon 11 August 2025 19:43, UK There are numerous reasons a Premier League club can suffer relegation, but have you ever heard of Snapchat being one of them? That is something Fulham must consider as they head into the 2025/26 season, according to Micah Richards. The Cottagers enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, eventually finishing 11th and just seven points off the top eight after initially flirting with a European challenge. However, it’s been a slow summer transfer window so far for Fulham, who have even been accused of doing the bare minimum to outperform the newly promoted sides. Fulham players banned from dressing room Snapchats Credit: Imago That could be a risky strategy for Fulham — especially considering they were beaten to the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and striker Rodrigo Muniz is linked to Leeds. But now, they’ve also been warned that a recent Snapchat ban could severely damage team morale. Midfielder Alex Iwobi had garnered a large following on the social media platform thanks to his regular behind-the-scenes posts from the Fulham dressing room. Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray’s latest Snapchat post signals a big change

Over the entire course of the New Orleans Pelicans' offseason, Dejounte Murray has been someone that the media and fans appeared to forget about. With the Joe Dumars blockbuster moves of trading for both Derik Queen and Jordan Poole, it makes sense why an injured Murray hasn't been a major talking point this summer. However, after a recent post made by Murray on Snapchat, fans are going to have a ton to talk about. In the post, Murray took a photo of himself on a scale with it reading 194.1 pounds. Assuming this scale was accurate, that means Murray has added 14 pounds to his listed 180-pound frame. To the average person, gaining 14 pounds might be a reason to rethink their diet or go see a doctor, but for Murray, it could be exactly what he needs to prolong his career. During his 8 years of NBA experience, Murray has always been someone who thrived driving to the basket. That being said, a constant theme throughout his career has been getting battered and bruised when going to the basket due to his thin frame. Now, with some added size to his frame, this shouldn't be a problem. This could
