The city of Memphis releases videos of Tyre Nichols' arrest and beating – WXXI News

Updated January 27, 2023 at 10:37 PM ET Memphis authorities released footage from the killing of Tyre Nichols at the hands of police, as cities across the country prepare for the public's response to the brutal incident. The footage was uploaded to Vimeo in four different parts from the Memphis Police Department. It includes graphic violence and shows police officers fatally beating Nichols. Nichols, a 29-year-old father and FedEx worker, was pulled over on Jan. 7 for what police said was reckless driving. After trying to flee on foot, Nichols was severely beaten by police. He died in a hospital three days later. Five officers have since been fired, and are facing charges of second-degree murder, assault and kidnapping. State and federal authorities are also investigating the officers. Following the release of this footage, more members of law enforcement could be facing punishment. After viewing the footage for the first time Friday night, Shelby County Sherriff Floyd Bonner said the actions of two additional deputies who arrived on scene following the beating is concerning. They have been relieved of duty pending an administrative investigation, Bonner said. "I have launched an internal investigation into the conduct of these deputies to determine

Protests in US after footage releases of Black man being beaten by police – Siasat.com

Washington: Protests erupted across the US after the release of a footage which showed five former police officers in Memphis brutally beating an African-American man who died three days later after the gruesome incident. The police officers, who are all Black and charged with murder, are seen taking turns to kick and punch the 29-year-old victim Tyre Nichols on January 7 as he screamed for his mother during the incident at a traffic stop, the BBC reported. On Friday, the Memphis Police Department released four graphic videos, totalling more than an hour of footage. The first video shows officers pulling Nichols out of his vehicle and shouting at him to get on the ground. “I didn’t do anything!” he says. Officers demand that he lie down flat. Within seconds, one of the officers fires a Taser at the victim, who leaps up and manages to run away. A separate video, from a CCTV camera mounted on a utility pole, shows officers beating Nichols after catching up with him in a residential area. Two officers are seen holding him down while others take turns kicking and punching him and striking him with an expandable baton. They drag him across the ground

Vimeo Censors Documentary About Parents Protecting Children from 'Transgender … – Breitbart

Video platform Vimeo has censored Dead Name — a documentary about parents struggling to protect their children from life-altering medical interventions on their gender — over so-called “hateful conduct.” “The film is subtly explosive but I can tell you unequivocally there is no hate speech, there is nothing hateful,” filmmaker Taylor Reece told the Daily Signal. “All these people talk about is how much they want to protect their children.” The filmmaker added that transgender activists had targeted Vimeo, calling on the video platform to ban the documentary. Reece said Dead Name was up for only 34 days before it was removed. Vimeo confirmed to the Daily Signal that it did, in fact, remove the documentary, citing “discriminatory” and “hateful content.” “We can confirm that Vimeo removed the video in question for violating our Terms of Service prohibiting discriminatory or hateful content,” the video platform said. “We strive to enforce these policies objectively and consistently across our platform.” The company added that “Vimeo’s global Trust & Safety team uses a number of tools and methods to moderate our platform of harmful, hateful, and misleading content in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy.” “In addition to conducting regular account reviews and closely monitoring repeat infringers

01/26/23 – ENDANGERED HAWAIIAN PICTURE-WINGED FLIES A KEY PIECE TO …

JOSH GREEN, M.D. GOVERNOR DAWN CHANG CHAIRPERSON For Immediate Release:  January 26, 2023 ENDANGERED HAWAIIAN PICTURE-WINGED FLIES A KEY PIECE TO RESTORED ECOSYSTEM To view video please click on photo or view at this link: https://vimeo.com/652535473 (HONOLULU) – Small invertebrates and microfauna, like endangered Hawaiian picture-winged flies, play an important role in providing balance to our natural ecosystems. Scientists and researchers at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH) and the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) are working together to re-establish picture-winged fly populations, including of Drosophila hemipeza, an endangered species. The project’s aim is to help restore ecosystem stability, support natural biodiversity, and reduce the likelihood of the species’ extinction. Historically, D. hemipeza populations were found at multiple sites in both the Ko‘olau and Wai‘anae ranges of O‘ahu. Today, their numbers are greatly diminished, and their range is significantly reduced. It is believed that Palikea, in the Waiʻanae Range, may be the only remaining site for these flies and few are left there. “Contributing factors to their decline include a range of issues that a lot of other native insects face: deforestation, predation and competition from invasives, native host plant destruction from pigs, and climate change,” said Kelli

BBC's Narendra Modi documentary sparks fears of campus violence in India – The National

The authorities at a top Delhi university are on alert amid fears of violence after it banned the screening of a BBC documentary about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Part two of the documentary, India: The Modi Question, will be aired in the UK on Tuesday, a week after part one was shown. The programme examines Mr Modi’s role as the chief minister of Gujarat when deadly sectarian riots rocked the western state in 2002, killing nearly 1,000 people, mostly Muslims.Although not aired in India, it was immediately denounced as propaganda by the Indian government, which issued a nationwide ban last week after the first episode created a social media storm. Some student unions at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University organised a screening of the documentary on Tuesday evening, but the administration said that the “unauthorised” showing could disturb harmony on campus. The university has a long history of violence between left and right-wing students. These clashes have often snowballed into national controversies. The administration warned students of “strict disciplinary action” if there was any defiance, but the Students' Federation of India, one of the largest left-wing college unions, said it would organise the screening on campuses across the country.A group of students at Hyderabad Central

Vimeo Nukes 'Dead Name' Documentary Highlighting The Horrors Of Transgender Ideology

Vimeo nuked a new documentary highlighting the horrors of transgender ideology on Monday. The film, titled “Dead Name” and produced by Taylor Reece, was scrubbed from the platform before it had even been available to viewers for a month. It was exclusively released on Vimeo but is now available on deadnamedocumentary.com, where viewers can rent the title for $9.99 or purchase the movie for $14.99. “Vimeo did not provide a reason,” Reece told The Federalist of the platform’s censorship. “We’re just glad that people will continue to be able to screen this film, which is an important catalyst for discussion nationally on a subject that is germane to parents everywhere.” In a statement to The Federalist on Monday afternoon, Vimeo said the documentary violated the platform’s terms on “discriminatory or hateful” material. “We can confirm that Vimeo removed the video in question for violating our Terms of Service prohibiting discriminatory or hateful content,” the company wrote in an email. “We strive to enforce these policies objectively and consistently across our platform.” The company did not immediately respond to a follow-up inquiry over what exactly in the “Dead Name” documentary was “discriminatory” or “hateful.” The film’s online suppression came less than

Vimeo takes down 'Dead Name' docu, forces film to launch new site | Entertainment News

Courtesy of Taylor ReeceVimeo has removed “Dead Name,” a documentary featuring “three parents whose lives have been shaken and forever altered because their children have declared (or have been given) a transgender identity,” from its platform. On Monday, CP learned that Vimeo took down “Dead Name” less than two months after the documentary was published on the platform. The former video page now reads, “Gone, baby, gone. Sorry, this page is no longer available.”"I was very distressed to find 'Dead Name' vaporized from Vimeo and without warning," filmmaker Taylor Reece of Broken Hearted films told The Christian Post on Monday. "The film had been up for 34 days. Sales and rentals were brisk. The response has been incredible from more than 16 countries around the world. But I wasn't 100 percent shocked because I am familiar with the force that the trans activists use to silence anyone who checks or questions their dogma."She added: "No doubt this is disheartening and caused a temporary disruption, but we circumvented this setback ... Ironically, every time the trans activists cancel someone, whether it is a journalist, a filmmaker, or a comedian, inadvertently they raise the profile of the piece of work at hand and
