Janus Films has released a new trailer for the 4K restoration and re-release of the 1986 "controversial" film Working Girls, from writer / director Lizzie Borden. Inspired by the experiences of sex workers Borden met while making her iconic Born in Films, it was her second feature film first released in theaters in 1987. It originally premiered at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival, then won a Special Jury Prize playing at the Sundance Film Festival in 1987. The film takes us through a day in the life of several prostitutes working in an upscale Manhattan brothel. A stark portrayal of the women prostitutes, the male customers and the motivations of both. The Women's Golf Coaches Association has announced the 2020-21 student-athlete and coaches awards for NAIA Women's Collegiate Golf. The awards are selected by a prestigious collection of women's collegiate golf coaches. For more information, please visit www.wgcagolf.com. Dalton State placed 4 golfers on the All-American squad with freshman Mailey Buzzell and sophomore Sydney Hermann garnering 2nd team honors. Both ladies competed in 9 events with neither finishing outside the top-15 during regular tournament play. Buzzell collected 2 wins, 7 top-5's, and 8 top-10's with a scoring average of 74.75, while Hermann netted 4 top-5's and 7 top-10's with a scoring average of 76.37. While video-hosting service Vimeo isn't quite as popular as YouTube, it still has hundreds of millions of users. Over the past few years, the company has been regularly updating its service to entice more customers. The firm has announced that it now supports AVIF images which means an automatic improvement in page load times and bandwidth consumption too. For those unaware, AVIF is an acronym for "AV1 Image File Format" and is essentially an AV1 format for still images. Both these specifications have been getting a lot of traction recently. AVIF is getting official support in Android 12 and has been supported in Cloudflare since October 2020 as well. Vimeo has stated that with support for AVIF images, page load times will increase as the format preserves comparable image quality to JPEG and WebP, while maintaining a smaller file size. Although a potential downside is that encoding takes longer, the firm says that this will not be an issue because this will be a one-time operation after which AVIF images will be cached. Vimeo was pinning its hopes on the booming streaming business, betting it could leverage its relationship with creatives to build a subscription service to rival Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO. It hired studio execs from Para­mount and Hulu and signed distribution deals with Lionsgate, CBS Interactive and Spike Lee for content to stock the new service.
