IAC CFO Likes To Dig Deep Beneath The Deal-Making Buzz

Like many of his finance leader peers, Glenn Schiffman, CFO of Internet holding company IAC, views the week that precedes quarterly earnings announcements as sacrosanct. “Because you have the backdrop of earnings, everyone takes your call and is ready within 10 seconds to produce analysis for you,” says Schiffman, while describing the quarterly outreach to finance team members on which he relies to keep tabs on IAC’s business mix, which is currently made up of 150 different brands and products. CFO Glenn Schiffman's lines of sight extend across IAC's ever-evolving mix of businesses. IAC Of course, members of the IAC finance team these days perhaps have more reason than ever to quickly accept Schiffman’s calls in light of the recent flurry of deal-making activity around IAC’s businesses and the anticipation of yet another spinoff from the Internet holding company, whose chairman is billionaire Barry Diller. Earlier this month, when IAC announced a capital raise of $150 million for its video platform Vimeo, IAC CEO Joey Levin told press and analysts that IAC was now “contemplating” a “full spin” of the video platform. If successful, Vimeo would become the 11th publicly listed company spun out from IAC—a development that no doubt makes Schiffman’s routine outreach a space with no small amount of buzz. Unlike many of his CFO peers, Schiffman is peering down not into a singular finance portal but instead into a wide patchwork of finance functions, each tracking, budgeting, and reporting the financials for a different IAC property. “You go to where you're needed and what the businesses’ needs are,” says Schiffman, who characterizes his management approach as wielding a broad set of problem-solving experiences but not necessarily deep industry knowledge. “When IAC got into the travel business years ago, we didn’t understand the travel business, and when we got…

TAC And RTSSV Give Voice To Road Trauma Victims In 'Left Unfinished' Campaign Via TABOO

TAC and Road Trauma Support Services Victoria (RTSSV) have launched an interactive exhibition called “Left Unfinished”, to deliver a powerful road safety message by showcasing everyday items belonging to Victorians whose lives were suddenly lost or forever changed on our roads. The exhibition is part of RTSSV’s ‘Shine a Light on Road Safety Week’ and will run from 15th November to 22nd November at the Melbourne Museum Plaza, and will then be on display within the TAC’s Road to Zero complex inside the Melbourne Museum until January 2021. The physical exhibit will feature seven items that each represent a story that was abruptly cut short or ‘left unfinished’ due to road tragedy and will serve as a tribute to the individuals, their families and loved ones, as well as a jarring reminder of our vulnerability on Victorian roads.

It tells the story of Mary, an 11-year old girl who is waiting for her long estranged father to show up for a Christmas dinner reconciliation. Mary lives (quite uncomfortably) in her Irish grandparents’ house with her mother Katherine. Her Nana, the unquestioned authority in her home, is decidedly against the prospect of hosting a dinner for the man who abandoned her daughter and pulls no punches in letting Mary know exactly what she thinks of him. As the family waits for the missing father to appear, an unforgettable Christmas night ensues.

Man dressed as giant rat takes subway mask requirement to new heights

November 14, 2020 | 6:29pm | Updated November 14, 2020 | 9:58pm So this giant rat walks into a Midtown subway car — and nobody blinks an eye. “Buddy the Rat” — AKA performance artist Jonothon Lyons — has been boring seen-it-all subway riders a lot these days as he perches on seats in all his rodent regalia, including a full-face mask and a long pink tail. But Tiktok loves him. “Oh NYC is dead? Explain this,” self-described comedy writer Alison Williams posted on Twitter over a Tiktok video of the human rodent boarding a No. 1 at 42nd Street that’s going viral. Lyons, who wears a suit and nice shoes, plus gloves on his hands as he crawls, has posted about 30 other Tiktok videos, and appeared in a few filmed by passersby, including one where he scampered across a city street. Lyons works in physical theater and puppetry, including a stint with the Blue Man Group. He said he created Buddy the Rat about 11 years ago, and posted a video on YouTube of a visit to Times Square that got about 70,000 views. Lyons brought Buddy out of retirement last month to tape a short film with director Todd Strauss-Schulson, known for “Isn’t It Romantic” and “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.” Their short — which Lyons described as, “Lonely rat finds love and dances the night away” — will debut on Lyons’ Vimeo and YouTube channels on Thanksgiving Day. “Buddy the Rat”Jonothon Lyons / Twitter While they were filming in Washington Square Park, Buddy started getting attention, and some spectators took videos. A post of them filming has now made Buddy social media famous, and Lyons has started taking the character out on the town just for fun. Lyons, a native of Arizona who moved…
