Guardians of Hope Film Screening – NewsBreak

About this Event Guardians of Hope A film by Amanda Dudgeon See the trailer here: Guardians of Hope on Vimeo Guardians of Hope is an inspiring documentary that follows ranger Amanda Dudgeon on a year-long journey across Oceania, travelling over 94,000 km and hiking 1,610 km - one kilometer for every ranger who has died in the line of duty. Through sweeping landscapes, intimate interviews, and raw reflections, the film celebrates the rangers who dedicate their lives to protecting nature, culture, and community across eight nations. More than just guardians of wildlife and wilderness, these rangers are firefighters, educators, cultural custodians, and frontline responders. They face challenges from natural disasters, trauma, and underfunding - but they persevere with determination, passion, and above all, hope. With powerful stories from Indigenous custodians, junior ranger mentors, and conservation leaders, Guardians of Hope highlights the deep connection between rangers and the land they protect. It explores the emotional and cultural weight of the profession, and the unbreakable bonds forged through shared purpose. At its heart, Guardians of Hope is a tribute to the quiet heroes walking the thin green line - those who keep showing up, not just to protect what’s left

Posted on October 8, 2025 On Saturday 20th September, the award-winning documentary The Divided Island was screened at the Home for Cooperation, located in the UN Buffer Zone in Nicosia. The event sold out in advance, with audiences from both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities coming together in Europe’s last divided capital to watch the film and participate in an open and honest discussion about the Cyprus Problem. Following the screening, director Cey Sesigüzel was joined by Kemal Baykali and Andromachi Sophocleous from Unite Cyprus Now, along with journalist and peace activist Sevgül Uludağ, for a lively Q&A. Guests shared personal reflections, asked challenging questions, and expressed their hopes for reconciliation. Sesigüzel said: “The Cyprus issue is often described as frozen, but Saturday proved that people are still hungry to talk, to learn, and to listen to one another. This film was born on this island, and it means so much to bring it back home and watch it together.” The film, which has already received awards at international festivals and enjoyed a successful UK cinema run, is now available to rent and stream online: Worldwide via Vimeo On Demand: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/thedividedisland
