The official public inquiry into the government’s handling of Covid threatened the Cabinet Office with criminal sanctions over its refusal to share Boris Johnson’s WhatsApp messages and diaries from during the crisis without heavy redactions.The inquiry issued a legal notice requesting Johnson’s unredacted WhatsApp communications, his official diaries from between January 2020 and February 2022, together with 24 notebooks, revealing for the first time the scale of notes taken by the former prime minister while in office.These included exchanges and group chats between senior government ministers, senior civil servants and their advisers during the Covid crisis, including the chief medical officer for England, Sir Chris Whitty, the then chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, and the former NHS chief Simon Stevens.They also include their messages with the former No 10 adviser Dominic Cummings and cabinet ministers at the time including Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss and the then deputy prime minister, Dominic Raab, the then health secretary, Matt Hancock, as well as the cabinet secretary, Simon Case.However, after receiving the legal order on 28 April this year, the Cabinet Office refused the request, which had been made under section 21 of the Inquiries Act 2005, two weeks later, contending it was

Fixed Invest has developed BetterFD, a WhatsApp marketplace where investors can find options for FDs with highest interest rates and invest without having to open a savings account.  Further, investors can directly begin new investments online through the marketplace at the click of a button. For instance, an investor in the age group of 18-40 who has an account in HDFC Bank could be looking for a short-term FD for two years. The investor can open the interactive BetterFD interface on WhatsApp, enter the required details and browse through all the FDs that provide a higher rate of interest than their existing bank.  By clicking on the ‘Invest Now’ option, the investor will be taken to the official FD booking portal of the chosen bank or non-banking finance company. This assumes significance as after the recent changes in the tax treatment of debt mutual funds, retail investors are looking for better returns on safe investments like fixed deposits. They have 15 minutes after sending the message to do so. “We’re excited that you’ll now have more control over your chats, such as correcting misspellings or adding more context to a message," company officials said. (Reuters) - WhatsApp has granted users one of its most awaited features - the ability to edit messages."For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp," the Meta Platforms Inc-owned messaging app said in a blog post on Monday.With the feature rolling out globally in the coming weeks, senders will be able to modify their messages within 15 minutes of hitting send.The function can be accessed by long-pressing the message and choosing "edit" in the drop-down menu.
