Armstrong explains his Rally Portugal crash – DirtFish

Jon Armstrong has talked DirtFish through his Rally Portugal accident 600 meters onto Saturday afternoon’s first stage. The M-Sport driver had been 10th overall, fighting back into the points on Saturday morning after losing his power steering on Friday afternoon. But he rolled on SS15 of 23, nudging a bank with the rear of his Puma Rally1 which tipped it into a roll. “I really enjoyed the first pass of the stage, so I was trying to keep a good rhythm and see what we could do on the second pass,” Armstrong told DirtFish, “but maybe slightly underestimated the grip levels from basically the weather change, but also the slower cars that have gone through, the tracks are a bit loose. “So when we came through this left into right over a small crest, just the rear stepped out quite quickly and then touched the bank and put the car into a roll on the road. So yeah, really frustrated to obviously go out like this. And yeah, it’s pretty tricky in these conditions, but  hadn’t really done a proper afternoon loop in the rally yet. “So yeah, we just got caught out basically, not really expecting that level of low

TCLBANKER Banking Trojan Targets Financial Platforms via WhatsApp and Outlook Worms

Threat hunters have flagged a previously undocumented Brazilian banking trojan dubbed TCLBANKER that's capable of targeting 59 banking, fintech, and cryptocurrency platforms. The activity is being tracked by Elastic Security Labs under the moniker REF3076. The malware family is assessed to be a major update of the Maverick, which is known to leverage a worm called SORVEPOTEL to spread via WhatsApp Web to a victim's contacts. The Maverick campaign is attributed to a threat cluster that Trend Micro calls Water Saci. At the core of the attack chain is a loader with robust anti-analysis capabilities that deploys two embedded modules: a full-featured banking trojan and a worm component that uses WhatsApp and Microsoft Outlook for propagation. "The observed infection chain bundles a malicious MSI installer inside a ZIP file," security researchers Jia Yu Chan, Daniel Stepanic, Seth Goodwin, and Terrance DeJesus said. "These MSI installer packages are abusing a signed Logitech program called Logi AI Prompt Builder." The malware leverages DLL side-loading against the application to launch a malicious DLL ("screen_retriever_plugin.dll"), which functions as a loader with a "comprehensive watchdog subsystem" that continuously keeps an eye out for analysis tools, sandboxes, debuggers, disassemblers, instrumentation tools, and antivirus software to sidestep

Expanding ‘Cuota Flores’ Case: Former Advisor Allegedly Provided Key Bank Statements …

Original article: Caso “Cuota Flores” se agranda: exasesor habría entregado cartolas y WhatsApp clave para seguir la plata The investigation into Senator Camila Flores (RN) regarding the potential crime of tax fraud in the so-called « Cuota Flores« case is intensifying. On Wednesday, OS9 police officers and the Valparaíso Regional Prosecutor’s Office conducted a search and seizure in her congressional offices. According to reports from CIPER, this operation was prompted by the substantial collaboration of a former advisor who allegedly provided bank statements and WhatsApp records that would be crucial in tracking the money that the senator is believed to have misappropriated from the salaries of her staff. The Valparaíso Regional Prosecutor’s Office initiated this investigation following an anonymous tip claiming that during her tenure as a deputy, Flores allegedly “demanded” that part of her collaborators’ salaries be delivered in cash to cover personal expenses, a practice referred to by employees as «Cuota Flores». This situation is reported to have persisted for at least seven years, amounting to nearly $300 million. Central to the operation was the secretary of the legislator, Yolanda Olfos, who was responsible for coordinating the collection of funds from the collaborators hired by Flores with congressional

Meta: Lawsuit Claiming WhatsApp Lacks End-to-End Encryption Is Falling Apart

Meta is firing back at a January lawsuit that alleged WhatsApp never supported end-to-end encryption, arguing the plaintiff’s claims are unraveling. In a Monday court filing, Meta says it has spent months "proactively engaged" with the plaintiffs on why the allegations are baseless. The lawsuit comes from a group of users based in countries such as Australia, Mexico, and South Africa, who cite “courageous whistleblowers” who allege Meta has “unlimited access” to WhatsApp’s encrypted messages.  With end-to-end encryption, Meta itself can’t view any user messages. So, if true, the sensational claims would undermine a core privacy feature of WhatsApp. The problem is that the lawsuit never offered any technical details to back up its allegations; instead, it merely claimed Meta had an internal system to easily view users' WhatsApp messages. When the lawsuit was first filed, Meta was quick to dismiss the allegations as “categorically false and absurd.” In the Monday filing, the company revealed it’s been pushing the plaintiffs and their lawyers to withdraw the case, arguing the “so-called ‘whistleblowers’ behind the complaint are confused, deeply misinformed, or acting in bad faith.” Meta went so far as to offer “sworn declarations from two WhatsApp employees,” confirming under penalty of perjury
