'WhatsApp is testing how calls will work after multi-device support'

Instant messaging app WhatsApp is known to be working on multi-device support for a while now. Now, as per a new tweet by WABetaInfo, the online channel that tracks the changes on the instant messaging app owned by Facebook, the app is testing how calling will work when the multi-device support is configured. This means the company is testing how the calling will work when a user has to operate the same account across different devices. As per WABetaInfo, the feature has been tested since last week and still there is no release date for the feature. TECHNOBABBLE: What may come of Facebook antitrust lawsuits?

Earlier this month, the attorneys general for 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and the territory of Guam signed on to an antitrust lawsuit against Facebook. South Dakota, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia are the only states to decline joining the lawsuit. Additionally, following a 20-month investigation, the Federal Trade Commission filed its own, separate antitrust lawsuit against Facebook on the same day.The crux of both lawsuits state that Facebook decided to purchase other companies rather than compete with them. The lawsuits seek to force Facebook to divest itself of both Instagram and WhatsApp, though other relief could come into play as time goes on. The lawsuits are separate because the FTC claims that Facebook has violated federal law while the states are claiming that Facebook has violated their state laws.WhatsApp isn’t used much in the U.S., but it is extremely valuable. It’s probably the most widely used messaging app in the world, and Facebook Messenger is not far behind. Instagram is used all over the world by mostly younger people. With these three apps, Facebook is in a strong position to stamp out any kind of competition. The founder of WhatsApp stated that he sold to Facebook…

With 2020, WhatsApp support for some Android and iPhones will also come to an end. However, this is not a major concern for a lot of users because the phones that will lose support for WhatsApp are too old. Along with the manufacturing year of smartphones, this also has lots to do with the operating systems that some of the phones are using. As per reports, WhatsApp will not be available on devices that are not running iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3 operating systems starting January 2021.Now there are older phones whose software can still be updated but there are some phones that are longer compatible with the latest software updates including iOS 14 and Android 10. So in that case, the only option one is left with is to change the phone entirely. Considering WhatsApp is the most preferred mode of communication, most people will not be able to function without the app if it loses support for WhatsApp in 2021. The smartest insight and analysis, from all perspectives, rounded up from around the web: Facebook's long campaign to keep conservatives happy didn't buy it protection from a potential breakup, said Jordan Weissmann at Slate. Last week, the Federal Trade Commission and 46 states "filed a massive pair of antitrust suits" accusing Facebook of buying rivals Instagram and WhatsApp to prevent them from competing. The twin cases are "a concerted, full-frontal assault on Mark Zuckerberg's empire," and it's what he deserves. For the past four years, Zuckerberg "bent over backward to avoid offending the Trump administration" while Facebook "kept the traffic flowing to the right-wing fever swamps." Despite the company's efforts to work the refs, Republicans have "continued to haul Zuckerberg" to Capitol Hill so they could gripe about "anti-conservative bias." Zuckerberg thought "playing nice" would spare him a serious regulatory crackdown. He was wrong. Before you talk about breaking up Facebook, show some actual harm to consumers, said Jessica Melugin at the National Review. "Regardless of why Facebook decided to purchase Instagram and WhatsApp," it has used its size and technological "know-how" to vastly improve them. After buying WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014, it "dropped download and subscription fees"…
