Heads up if you tend to dodge, ignore, or genuinely miss calls on WhatsApp: the app is working on a voicemail-like feature. Here’s how it will work. According to WABetaInfo (via Tecnoblog ), the feature was introduced in the latest Android beta, but not yet on iOS. They explain that if a call goes unanswered, a new “Record voice message” button pops up at the bottom of the screen, alongside the Call again and Cancel options. This lets the user quickly record a voice message, rather than either trying to call again or navigating to the chat interface to record one manually. As with most features uncovered by WABetaInfo, there’s no timeline for when (or if) it will roll out to everyone. There’s also no sign of it in the WhatsApp TestFlight for iOS yet. Lucknow: It's time to check your mobile phone for any e-challan notices that you may have received from the state transport department's WhatsApp Chatbot service (8005441222), and pay the amount. The transport department has taken up a massive exercise to realise challans pending for 2024-25. As there are over one-third of total pending challans where the mobile numbers are either wrong or missing in registration details of the vehicles, the department has advised owners to check the status of challans against their vehicles on the parivahan.gov.in portal themselves and make payment to avoid stricter punishment. "Currently, we are sending notices for challans pending for 2024-25. Later, we will start a similar exercise for 2022 and 2023," transport commissioner Brajesh Narain Singh said. A total of 36 lakh e-challan notices may be sent by the department directly to vehicle owners' mobile numbers through its WhatsApp chatbot service, which is a blue tick verified service and approved by the central govt, for three financial years starting 2022-23. A MAN has admitted possessing an extreme pornographic video and forwarding it to a friend on WhatsApp. Scott Banner, of New Road, Evesham, pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing an extreme pornographic image showing an act likely to result in serious injury to a person's private parts. Banner, 43, stood only to confirm his details and enter a guilty plea when he appeared at Redditch Magistrates' Court on Monday morning (August 18). In the latest TestFlight release for its iOS beta testers, WhatsApp rolled out a tool called “Writing Help,” which suggests replies based on the tone set by the user. Here’s how it works. As noted by WABetaInfo : When Private Processing is enabled from the app settings, some users will notice that after typing a short phrase within the chat text input, the sticker icon in the chat bar is replaced with a pen symbol. This new icon indicates that the AI assistant is available to provide writing suggestions. Tapping it allows the user to instantly request improvements to structure, tone, or clarity, making it easier to craft polished and personalized messages before sending them. In practice, Writing Help offers “at least three” alternative phrasings, based on one of five tones that the user can choose from: Rephrase: improves clarity and flow without changing meaning Professional: adjusts language for more formal chats Funny: adds a lighter or a humorous twist Supportive: softens the tone and aims to be uplifting Proofread: fixes spelling and grammar issues After reviewing the results, the user can either keep the original message, or replace it with one of the suggestions. (ABC 6 News) – Viroqua, WI police are searching for a Canton, MN man who led officers on a high speed chase on Friday. Viroqua police were called to a parking lot in the city for a man with a warrant. When they arrived on scene, the suspect and a male passenger got into their vehicle and started to speed away, nearly hitting one of the officers. The passenger, Jesse Devlaeminck from Rochester, exited the vehicle on the north side of Viroqua and was taken into custody on multiple warrants after a short search. The driver, identified as Nathan Gossman from Canton, led officers on a high speed pursuit until his vehicle left the road near Retreat. Reform UK has banned its local branches from organising political events on WhatsApp after fears of infiltration from the far right. Rules handed down to local affiliates last month, seen by The Times, will force branch officers to sign non-disclosure agreements and prevent them from opening their own bank accounts. It hands sweeping powers to the national party to override the rules and suspend members. Sources familiar with the rules said the strict approach was needed to prevent potential entryism from the far right. The branch rules were initially published in December under Zia Yusuf, then party chairman, who had been brought in to professionalise the party’s operation. However, a tightened version, including the restrictions on social media use, was published last month. It added that branch officers “are not permitted to use social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, etc, to communicate party and branch operations and activities to members and/or supporters”. Communications should instead be limited to email and to branch meetings, it said.
