An online mix-up led to a Texas woman named Regina Mayor coming to the Queen City to meet Regina’s mayor in person on Tuesday. In January 2022, Regina Mayor was mistaken for Regina Mayor Sandra Masters on Twitter. Mayor sent out another tweet to try and clear the air which caught the eye of Sandra Masters who extended an invite to Mayor to come visit Regina. That offer was taken up on Tuesday. Hey Regina SK peeps!!! Regina Mayor is going to Regina to see the Regina Mayor! Who is the REAL Regina Mayor?!? Stay tuned!! #iloveregina #Regina — Regina Mayor (@Regina_Mayor) June 25, 2023 “She was in Toronto for a meeting and she felt that since she was in Canada why not just hop over to Regina?” Masters said. Mayor said she was unaware of the connection between the two until it was pointed out to her by a university professor during a class. Masters, on the other hand, said the City of Regina learned about the mix-up after hearing that Mayor was receiving messages intended for her and the City of Regina. “Rise like Lions after slumberIn unvanquishable number-Shake your chains to earth like dewWhich in sleep had fallen on youYe are many – they are few.”It’s not the first time Jeremy Corbyn has quoted verse XXXVIII of Percy Bysshe Shelley’s Masque of Anarchy. He recited it on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury in 2017 in those innocent days when singing “Oh Jeremy Corbyn” to the tune of the White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army was popular and Boris Johnson had never presented his prime ministerial credentials to the Queen. Yesterday Corbyn posted that same verse on Twitter, using it to plug his and Len McCluskey’s looming anthology, Poetry for the Many, which can be preordered online by right-thinking lefties, though ideally, you’d think, not from Amazon.Twitter was not impressed with the poem which, alarmingly, many took to be the work of the former Labour leader and still MP for Islington North. “Good heavens this is baaaaad,” tweeted uthekwane. “The whole poem is utterly dreadful and the scansion is totally broken but that use of ‘ye’ is the most pretentious shit imaginable,” tweeted Danielle Blake. “Vogons wept,” she added in another tweet. Vogons, you recall, are slug-like humanoids from Douglas Adams’s The Hitchhiker’s

Spurs and Rockets fans are spicing things up off the court and on social media. SAN ANTONIO — During the 1990s, the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets had a great rivalry on the court. There was David Robinson versus Hakeem Olajuwon, playoff battles, and the chase to be the best NBA team in Texas. The Spurs and Rockets rivalry has cooled over the years but it seems both fanbases are igniting it again on social media. In case you haven't seen it on Twitter, Spurs and Rockets fans are battling. Keyboard warriors on both sides are taking potshots at one another, poking fun at their respective teams, and it is getting ugly. It may have all started on NBA Draft Lottery night when Victor Wembanyama had a very enthusiastic reaction to Houston landing the No. 4 pick. Obviously, Rockets fans took exception (and were very upset the Spurs won the draft lottery) to this but this social media war has been brewing for some time.  Here's a sample of the online beef between Spurs and Rockets fans: They act like it's San Antonio's fault their sorry franchise only won two championships Blame y'all front office How many head coaches

ST. LOUIS, MO - AUGUST 27: Adam Wainwright #50 of the St. Louis Cardinals watches from the dugout during the second inning against the Atlanta Braves at Busch Stadium on August 27, 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri. (Photo by Scott Kane/Getty Images) St. Louis Cardinals veteran Adam Wainwright deleted his social media account after the London Series. Waino suffered one of the worst defeats of his 2023 season.Cardinals fans love Adam Wainwright — and they should. He, along with Yadier Molina and Albert Pujols, were core members of the team’s World Series runs in the mid-2000’s and even 2010’s.Molina and Pujols have since moved on to retirement, but Waino opted for one final season in Cardinals red. That…may have been a mistake.Sure, it’s tough to blame Wainwright for taking the money and going out on his own terms, but he’s not the pitcher he once was. Meanwhile, St. Louis is struggling. FanSided’s Alicia de Artola outlined Wainwright’s issues in a recent article:“Wainwright tried to hold off the clock but its clearly caught up to him. It’s no surprise for a 41-year-old have his game decline. It’s just a shame he didn’t hang up his cleats before it got to this

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf chairman is a larger-than-life figure who amassed a huge fan following from across the globe, including some of the top politicians and leaders. Khan, 70, who is facing over 150 cases including sedition, murders, and terrorism, is no more allowed to appear in mainstream media, however, his online presence continues to grow despite the incumbent government’s attempts to gag the populist leader. Despite having blackout on the country’s broadcasters, Khan continues his online engagement, and the microblogging platform Twitter is his second home. The Oxford graduate continue to interact with his followers on Twitter space, but this time an unusual person was spotted in the session. As several of his rivals including Maryam Nawaz once allegedly joined his session, this time it’s no other than Twitter chief Elon Musk – the tech billionaire, who is an avid social media user and follows social and political trends. Tweeple were quick to point out that Tesla CEO was there and it was all captured in a screen recording, which sends Khan’s users in a frenzy. As some go gaga over the recent development, others raised questions and called it an edited version. Social Media

A Twitter spat has emerged between the leader of Swindon council and his opposition's deputy leader after he tweeted a story calling private water companies corrupt. Labour's leader of Swindon Borough Council, Jim Robbins, clashed with the deputy leader of the Conservative group, Dale Heenan. Coun Robbins tweeted an article and petition direct from a post on the Surfers Against Sewage website, with a few words from the article automatically fed into Coun Robbins' tweet. Those words were: “Corrupt water companies have been repeatedly dumping raw sewage into our waterways – we must act urgently before our rivers and seas are ruined forever. Sign now.” Coun Heenan responded saying this was no way for a council leader to talk about a company the council had significant dealings with: “Imagine a councillor being invited to meet Thames Water but fails to turn up and instead while it's being held, tweets calling water company corrupt. “Well, Swindon can top that today. The new Swindon Council leader proudly did it. Juvenile grandstanding instead of effort to get change.” Coun Robbins responded saying he had been at other meetings as part of his duties and added: “I’ve been in touch with Thames Water and will happily

There are moments in everyone’s life as a sports fan where you realize that you’re watching greatness. LeBron James scoring 25 straight points against the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals, Patrick Mahomes throwing six touchdowns against the Steelers in 2018, Shohei Ohtani...well...being Shohei Ohtani. Kevin Durant has solidified himself as one of the greats on the basketball court. However, on Friday he etched his name among the great Twitter users in the history of the app. Durant is known to have basketball discourse on that app with many a Twitter user, but this was the first time (to our knowledge, burners are everywhere folks) that he actually hopped on a Twitter space, a feature that basically lets you yell about your favorite things on an app that’s designed to let you yell about your favorite things. Merely hopping into a Twitter space doesn’t make him one of the greats, no. Any old Twitter user can hop into a space and discuss hoop. Kevin Durant joined a Twitter space...TO DISCUSS IF KEVIN DURANT IS A TOP 5 PLAYER. This is like those memes where you show up to your own funeral, but Kevin Durant did it in real life! This

File photo of Cheteshwar Pujara© AFPCheteshwar Pujara took to Twitter to post a video of his batting along with a short message just a day after he was dropped from the India's Test squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies. The exclusion of Pujara prompted a massive discussion among fans and experts with several of them criticising the selectors for singling out the veteran for the failures of Indian batters in the WTC final. Pujara did not have a good outing in the match. In the post he shared on social media, the right-handed batter could be seen playing a number of shots at the crease. He added just two emojis along with his Twitter post.pic.twitter.com/TubsOu3Fah— Cheteshwar Pujara (@cheteshwar1) June 24, 2023Earlier, legendary India opener Sunil Gavaskar had his say about Pujara's exclusion from the side."Why has he been dropped? Why has he been made the scapegoat for our batting failures. He has been a loyal servant of India cricket. A loyal and quiet servant. A loyal and quiet achiever. But because he does not have millions of followers on platforms who will make a noise in case he gets dropped, you drop him. That is something beyond understanding.
