Elon Musk's possible Twitter plans explained: From possible hostile takeover to a fun distraction

Analysts have speculated that Elon Musk's roller coaster journey as Twitter's largest shareholder could be part of a ploy to stage a hostile take-over of the company, while others claim the social media platform may just be a fun distraction for the billionaire.Musk revealed he last week that he had become Twitter's largest shareholder, with a 9.2 percent stake in the company, on March 14.One day after he disclosed his stake, platform CEO Parag Agrawal announced the Tesla co-founder had been invited to the join the company's board of directors, a seat he gladly accepted.By accepting the board seat, Musk was limited in how much of the company's shares he could own, with a 14.9 percent cap. However, on Sunday Parag announced the SpaceX CEO formally declined his board seat.Musk, 50, signed the new filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Monday indicating he had declined his board seat. The document stated Musk could 'express his views' about Twitter's policies and services to the board or on social media. He could also purchase additional shares or sell Twitter stock, if he saw fit.The usually vocal tech tycoon has not commented on his decision to forgo board membership. Here, DailyMail.com explains what the…

Musk backing off Twitter board opens door to hostile takeover – CNBC

Now, many analysts suggest the Tesla CEO could bolster his stake and eventually try and establish control."his weekend's change-up spares the company from having to deal with a renegade director tweeting about board-level discussions. That would have been untenable," Gordon Haskett Research Advisors' Don Bilson wrote in a note Monday. "The flip side to this is TWTR must deal with a wild-card investor that already owns 9% of the company and has the resources to buy the remaining 91%. As volatile as Musk is, we could see a move like that made shortly. Or we could never see it all. This overhang that TWTR now lives beneath certainly qualifies as a distraction."Bilson pointed to Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal's statement…

Musk suggests Twitter changes, including accepting Dogecoin – WSPA

As Twitter’s newest board member and largest shareholder, Elon Musk is already floating suggestions for changes he’d like to see on the social media platform. In a series of tweets late Saturday, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said that the company should include an “authentication checkmark” as a feature of its Twitter Blue premium subscription service, which costs $3 a month. Twitter adds a checkmark logo next to a user name when the account has been verified “authentic, notable and active.” Musk also suggested Twitter make the authentication checkmarks of premium subscriber accounts different than those granted to official accounts belonging to public figures, for example. Such a move, Musk said, would “massively expand” the pool of verified user accounts and discourage the proliferation of spam “bot” accounts, making them too expensive to maintain. Musk also shared ideas for how Twitter should charge for its subscription membership, saying the fee “should be proportionate to affordability and in local currency,” and adding: “Maybe even an option to pay in Doge?” referring to the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. “And no ads,” Musk tweeted. “The power of corporations to dictate policy is greatly enhanced if Twitter depends on advertising money to survive.” Musk’s latest tweets…

Elon Musk floats turning Twitter's headquarters into a homeless shelter | Fox Business

Elon Musk, Twitter Inc.'s largest shareholder, proposed turning the social media company's San Francisco headquarters into a homeless shelter because "no one shows up anyway." Musk made the proposal via a Twitter poll on Saturday night. Nearly 1.2 million people had responded by Sunday morning, and 91.1% of them voted in favor of the idea. ELON MUSK PURCHASES STAKE IN TWITTER AFTER SLAMMING ITS APPROACH TO ‘FREE SPEECH’ Musk's poll comes a week after he purchased a 9.2% stake in Twitter's stock, making him the company's largest shareholder. Musk has been critical of Twitter's handling of free speech on the platform and has proposed a number of tongue-in-cheek changes to the company since his stock purchase. He tweeted another poll Sunday morning on whether to remove the letter "W" from "Twitter." The only available responses were "Yes" and "Of course." Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal announced that Musk would join Twitter's board of directors last week. Musk will also participate in a town hall Q&A session with Twitter employees, some of whom have expressed concern of Musk's presence at the company, Agrawal announced to employees Thursday. "We say that Twitter is what’s happening and what people are talking about right now. Often, we at…

Donald Glover Interviewed Himself and Twitter Is Aflame – The Root

Photo: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic (Getty Images)Whether you met him as Childish Gambino the rapper or as Donald Glover the writer and actor, we all know by now that both characters are indeed the same dude. And yet, the “Atlanta” showrunner has recently decided to revel in this duplicity by interviewing himself. In a piece published by Interview Magazine this past Thursday, Donald sat down with Donald Glover to get to the bottom of, well…his own artistic motivations.Glover apparently believes that most journalists aren’t shit, and he gets straight to his reasoning at the onset of the interview.“Yeah, so first question, why’d you want to do this?” he poses to himself.“I guess I don’t love interviews and I asked myself, “Why don’t you like interviews?” And I think part of it is that the questions are usually the same. This way I can get questions I usually don’t get asked.”Twitter seems to find this hilarious however, as most of the questions he actually asks himself don’t seem to drop any jaws. In fact, they seem pretty doggone ordinary, and the internet was quick to point this out.One user tweeted: “I do find it funny that Donald Glover wanted to interview himself to avoid…

Twitter reacts to Bears signing CB Tavon Young, TE Ryan Griffin

In case you were sleeping last night, you missed the Chicago Bears adding a couple of players to the roster. The Bears are signing cornerback Tavon Young and tight end Ryan Griffin each to one-year deals, per Pro Football Focus’ Ari Meirov. While they’re not exactly big splashes in free agency, they’re two solid additions who are gearing up to be contributors in 2022. Young fills a big hole at the nickelback position, which was a huge area of weakness last year. While Young has the potential to be a huge asset in the slot, there are some injury concerns. Griffin figures to serve the role of Cole Kmet’s back-up, although he projects to be a “U” tight end while Kmet serves as the “Y” tight end. Griffin is an experienced tight end who is another weapon for quarterback Justin Fields. For the most part, Bears fans were happy with these additions. There was a ton of excitement for the Young signing, as he’s someone who’s an absolute baller. But ultimately, both Young and Griffin present as low-risk, high-reward signings for Chicago. Here’s how Twitter is reacting to the signings of Young and Griffin: Woah the Bears made two signings…
