IND vs SA: Twitter Reacts As South Africa Secure Series With A 7-Wicket Victory In Cape Town

Hosts South Africa completed the comeback against favorites, India, as they won the third and final Test in Cape Town by wickets to secure the series 2-1. Having lost the first Test, the onus was on the Proteas to turn their fortunes around. They pulled off an excellent run chase in Johannesburg to level the series before masterminding another chase to hand Virat Kohli and co. a series defeat in a long time. After conceding a 13-run lead in the first innings, the South African pace attack brought their side into the game despite a Rishabh Pant century. The wicket-keeper became the first Indian on Proteas shores to score a hundred in the process. Rishabh Pant. Credits: Twitter Chasing a target of 212 on a decent batting surface would have been tough if not for the rise of Keegan Petersen. The youngster made the most of his luck and smashed a 113-ball 82 that completely deflated the Indian team. By the time he was dismissed, he had already brought the home side to the brink of victory. It was a mere formality from thereon and the hosts pocketed valuable World Test Championship (WTC) points in the 2021-23 table. Jasprit Bumrah…

Brex’s two twenty-something founders are now billionaires, thanks to a lofty new funding round announced this week that nearly doubled the valuation of their five-year-old fintech firm. The San Francisco-based startup—which is aiming to overhaul the corporate credit card—confirmed on Tuesday that it has raised $300 million in a funding round led by investment firms Greenoaks Capital and Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), giving it a $12.3 billion valuation—a sizable jump from the $7.4 billion valuation it fetched just nine months ago. Cofounders (and co-CEOs) Henrique Dubugras, 26, and Pedro Franceschi, 25, each hold a 14% stake in Brex, Forbes estimates, worth about $1.5 billion apiece. (Forbes discounts the value of privately held companies.) The pair declined to comment on Forbes’ estimates but Dubugras did speak with Forbes about his startup’s path to success.    Brex cofounders and co-CEOs Henrique Dubugras (left), 26, and Pedro Franceschi, 25, met through a spirited Twitter exchange when they were high school seniors in Brazil. File Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Nigeria lifted its ban on Twitter on Thursday, restoring access to the social media platform for millions of users across West Africa's biggest democracy. The Nigerian government cracked down on Twitter in June after the platform deleted a post from President Muhammadu Buhari that threatened political dissenters. A spokesman for Nigeria's National Information Technology Development Agency said it reinstated Twitter at 12 a.m. Thursday, once Twitter agreed to certain conditions, including establishing an office or legal entity in the country and meeting applicable tax obligations. "These conditions addressed legal registration of operations, taxation and managing prohibited publication in line with Nigerian laws. Twitter has agreed to meet all the conditions," NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi said in a statement. We are pleased that Twitter has been restored for everyone in Nigeria. Our mission in Nigeria & around the world, is to serve the public conversation. We are deeply committed to Nigeria, where Twitter is used by people for commerce, cultural engagement, and civic participation.— Twitter Public Policy (@Policy) January 13, 2022 The…

Marjorie Taylor Greene Gets Gab, Gettr Boost After Twitter Ban—Way Down Overall – Newsweek

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's calls for her supporters to flock to right-wing social media platforms after her personal account was permanently suspended appear to be having some effect. The Republican congresswoman urged people to ditch Twitter and join conservative network Gettr and the controversial "free speech" social media site Gab in protest at her being banned from the site.According to the internet archive website the WayBack Machine, since Greene was suspended from Twitter on January 2, the Georgia congresswoman has gained 44,600 followers on Gab, as well as around 23,600 followers on Gettr, amounting to more than 68,000 new social media followers overall. In a statement, Twitter confirmed it had suspended Greene's personal account where she had more than 460,000 followers for "repeated violations" of its COVID-19 misinformation policy.Soon afterwards, Greene called on "every Republican to LEAVE Twitter!" in a post on Gettr. Greene added that "truth is under attack and so are our Republican Conservative values" and claimed her suspension is the latest example of Twitter censoring right-wing voices.Greene also described Twitter as a "disgrace to democracy" during an appearance on Newsmax on January 4, noting how former president Donald Trump was also permanently banned from the platform after…
