Twitter reverses suspension of new State Ed board member's account | National News – KPVI

Take a look at the number of Nebraska students enrolled in home-school for the 2021-22 school year and how it compares to previous years. OMAHA -- Twitter has reversed the suspension of newly appointed State Board of Education member Kirk Penner’s account, saying it made the suspension in error. In an email, the social media company told the World-Herald it had reversed the suspension and informed Penner of the error. Twitter did not immediately provide additional information on what led to the suspension. Penner, a businessman and former member of the Aurora Public Schools board, indicated in a tweet that the suspension stemmed from a photo taken after a goose hunt.At 10:22 p.m. Friday, Penner tweeted a screenshot appearing to show Twitter instructing him to delete his previous profile picture. The picture showed three people, dressed in camouflage, kneeling behind a row of dead geese. In the screenshot, Twitter said the picture violated its rules against graphic violence or adult content in profile images.“Goose hunting pics are not welcome on Twitter," Penner wrote in a tweet sharing the screenshot. NFL star & Fox presenter under fire from Twitter social distancing police (VIDEO) – RT

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made history in his team’s Christmas Day win against the Cleveland Browns, but the NFL icon’s post-game actions with a Fox TV presenter left some fans scratching their heads. Veteran star Rodgers broke Green Bay legend Brett Favre’s franchise record for touchdown passes as his toss to Allen Lazard in the first quarter moved his remarkable career tally to 443 in Packers colors.Rodgers, 38, would add two more TDs to that total as he went 24 of 34 for 202 yards in a 24-22 victory for Green Bay at Lambeau Field. The impressive Packers have already sealed the NFC North title and are pushing for the conference’s top playoff seed as they pursue a first Super Bowl title since the 2010 season.  After the game though, Rodgers drew scrutiny for his actions when he was being interviewed by Fox presenter Erin Andrews.Apparently sticking to Covid protocols, the pair lined up around 6 feet apart as Andrews asked Rodgers about his record-breaking performance and issues including a recent toe injury. After wishing each other a Merry Christmas, Rodgers and Andrews ended the interview and perhaps thought they were off camera as they approached each other for a…

'What if the Browns beat the Packers?' Twitter responds in a variety of ways – Browns Wire

The Cleveland Browns face-off with the Green Bay Packers today on Christmas Day clinging to hopes of the AFC North crown and a playoff appearance. Hope seems dim given the opponent but the team is getting a few players back from the reserve/COVID-19 list for the game. That includes QB Baker Mayfield who just landed in Green Bay Saturday morning and hopes to join a walkthrough by the team before the game. While the odds are not in the Browns favor today, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. This NFL season has been full of chaos and unexpected results throughout. Just last week, the New Orleans Saints shut out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vaunted offense. So, the question had to be asked to Cleveland fans: Alright Browns fans, finish this sentence: "If the Browns beat the Packers on Christmas Day…" — Jared Mueller (@JaredKMueller) December 21, 2021 Twitter did not disappoint with some funny, some serious and some very practical responses: My wife might get her wish of a third child. — Troy Baumgartner (@TroyBaumgartner) December 21, 2021 I will later wake up and be very angry with my very optimistic, yet evil, subconscience. — Brian Holbrook (@hobes1991) December…

CES 2022 seemingly falling apart: Google and GM join T-Mobile and others in opting-out – The Verge

CES, the world’s largest technology show, appears to be in jeopardy due to rising COVID-19 cases in the United States. On Wednesday evening, exhibitor Lenovo announced that it would “suspend all on-site activity in Las Vegas,” following announcements from T-Mobile, Amazon, Meta, and others that they’d be ditching as well and despite CES organizers’ statements today that the show would go on. T-Mobile was the most prominent exhibitor to bail early in the week. CEO Mike Sievert, one of the Consumer Electronics Show’s featured speakers, publicly announced on Tuesday that he would no longer be doing a keynote and would “significantly limit our in-person participation.” Amazon decided not to attend the show in-person entirely, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, and AT&T also dropped out on Wednesday, according to Axios’ Ina Fried. Hisense typically has a large press conference and significant presence in the LVCC’s central hall, but on Thursday morning, Hisense announced it has decided to make its January 4th press conference fully virtual “to ensure the health and safety of our team.” The company still plans to have a booth at the show, with in-person walkthroughs for those attending and virtual ones for those covering it from home. It…

Ronaldo and Biles Lead Athletes in 2021 Twitter Follower Growth – Sportico.com

Some of the biggest sports stories of 2021 took place on social media. Women’s college basketball players revealed inequities between the men’s and women’s facilities in their respective March Madness bubbles, and the nation’s top-ranked class of 2022 recruit, Travis Hunter, announced his decision to sign with Jackson State University by tweeting, “Time To Make History.” These conversations were driven digitally. While plenty of U.S. athletes promote themselves and their causes on Twitter, the top 20 male and female athletes with the most new followers in 2021 represent the platform’s global reach. The lists feature competitors from 10 different countries who play 10 different sports, with half of the top 10 coming from soccer. Cristiano Ronaldo, whose 95.5 million followers is the fifth-most of any account in the world, led them all with 6.8 million new followers over the past 12 months. Several athletes on the list utilize Twitter’s evolving platform to creatively engage with fans. “Kevin Durant is one of my all-time favorite Twitter users, because he doesn’t mind getting spicy,” said TJ Adeshola, Twitter's head of U.S. sports partnerships. “He doesn’t mind responding to people in real time. One day Kevin Durant decided he wanted to talk about…

Maskless 'Bachelorette' finale causes uproar on Twitter, forcing ABC to pivot halfway – Fox News

ABC and producers behind the "Bachelorette" finale were forced to pivot halfway through its "After the Final Rose" segment after Twitter users put up a fight against the maskless crowd seen on television. The "After the Final Rose" event was hosted by Kaitlyn Bristowe, who opened the show in front of a live studio audience. Attendees were seen sitting in seats close to one another and without face coverings. The shocking sight caused Twitter users watching at home to unleash their fury against ABC and the "Bachelorette" producers, calling them out for an obvious disregard for people's health given the recent surge of the Omicron variant. One user called attention to the fact that the live event began "with everyone in the audience not wearing masks," until Twitter's uproar. "That's now how viruses work, you're all f---ed already if Omicron is in that crowd," one user wrote.'BACHELORETTE' FINALE: MICHELLE YOUNG MAKES A DECISION ON HER SUITORSAnother social media user joked, "Last night I was watching the Bachelorette with my wife and unborn son. Twitter Iconically Gets Live 'Bachelorette' Audience to Wear Masks by Calling Out the Show

The Bachelorette's season finale went down last night and included a traditional After the Rose segment with a live audience. And, um, Twitter was quick to notice that said audience wasn't wearing masks—despite the fact that we're in the middle of a Covid wave and cases are rising exponentially. And it's clear producers pay a lot of attention to Bachelor Nation's tweets, because mid-way through the show everyone in the audience popped on a mask. As co-host Kaitlyn Bristowe put it, "We've seen a lot of chatter online. So, just so we're clear, everyone around me has tested negative. But just to exercise additional caution, the audience will remain masked throughout the rest of the show." This content is imported from Twitter.
